Good Luck. Who is this Senor Rodrigues whom you mention.
It appears the assumption that LBC will grant any application except under extreme pressure.

Mr Rodrigues is the owner of 1 Manor Mount. The last application that was out in July was by a developer called Paul Kenward, not the owner. I am putting them under extreme pressure... well trying to!!

It is so difficult to try and protect our neighbourhood from over-development. I am going to see someone at Planning Aid today to see if she can help. Lewisham will be responsible for the destruction of Manor Mount and the forest Hill conservation area will be a meaningless title if this planning goes ahead. It will set a precedent for all family houses in the road to be changed into flats and all spaces between houses to be filled in by new developments. It will not help with the lack of cheap housing that is needed in the borough it will only line the pockets of the developers. Lewisham will be responsible for this and the people of the area will be very unhappy as a result.

There seems no point in pretending that you are giving ordinary people a voice when no one listens to us.

I have now put up a new petition objecting to the planning application for 1 Manor Mount. There are now two applications running concurrently! Please help support the residents of Manor Mount Conservation Area. The address of the new petition is: http://www.gopetition.com/online/22035.html

Teresa
I agree 100% with your comments. Family houses should remain so.
Possibly LBC planning are following national directives. Is Jim Dowd MP involved on your behalf.?

He has written to me to say he has contacted the Director for Regeneration at Lewisham Council with a request that a response be sent to me and also to him. I am not quite sure who this is or how it will help me. Do you know?

I walked past today and last night and the builders were cutting down the trees outside 1 Manor Mount. Do you know if the planning application has been successful? I looked on the Lewisham Planning Department and it says that no decision has yet been reached, and I would have thought they would need permission before they could cut down trees in a conservation area?

I saw this as well. It's a disgrace that they can just destroy the character of this lovely road. And the planning application hasnt even been approved. They look as if they are just going ahead regardless!!!! The cheek of it.

You should call Lewisham Planning urgently , and email, ccc the Mayors/CEO's office, probably enforcement but the case officer would also be good, and tell them that the owner appears to be commencing development in advance of planning permission being obtained also a tree has been cut down, and let them decide whether action is appropriate. If they don't know whats going on they can't do anything about it. Its not just cheek, its illegal, but the developers are probably relying on no one noticing. I do recall a developer in Islington bulldozing a building which was about to be listed over one weekend. It got on the news. I don;t think our rather bland legal system can do much about it post event.

I stopped a tipper lorry coming out of the site from going down the hill against the one way system yesterday and had a word with the forman about making sure none of the vehicles using the site did the same.

You are very brave but personally I wouldn't take the risk. Myself and a friend reproached a workman in my own road doing someones wall dangerously and by blocking the pavement and he threatened us with all sorts of things despite our having two kids in buggies with us. You could have incurred serious injury as doubtless these people dont really care what they are doing. I would really take their number and report it again to the Councillor. Also try Cllr John Russell as he is very helpful in these matters.

Just wondered if anyone knows what has happended/is happening with 1 Manor Mount? It is really sad to see such a lovely house all boarded up on what is one of Forest Hill's nicest roads.

I walk past on my way to work and I noticed this week there are people living there now but it is still all boarded up and looking back at this thread it reminded me that it is 2(!) years since the work started on it.

Did you ever find out what was going on with 1 Manor Mount? We tried to get in touch with the council to enquire about the property as it looks like it's suffering from subsidence now (take a look at the windows) but never heard back from anyone!

We would potentially be interested in restoring this house into a single dwelling family home but the owner just seems uninterested in responding. It's so sad that he would rather just leave a lovely home to fall into complete state of dilapidation and the council won't do anything about it. (Although I'm not entirely sure what they can do to be honest...)

Maybe it's cheaper to let it fall down then rebuild from scratch. I am sure that is not what is happening of course.

Just took another good look at the property on the way back from Sainsbury's and you're right, Londondrz. It looks like the subsidence is so severe, that it might be more cost effective to knock it all done and start over! I should think that's why it's not been sold on to any developers. Can only imagine how much nuisance all this must have caused to the neighbours on both sides...makes me so sad we can't do much about this Sad
