I went to the local meeting this evening which was very interesting.

There are still some questions to be answered about where the moped will be after 7pm. There is space for six in front of the shop but they can't really use the area used for bin storage, there are bins there.

They have tried out electric mopeds in a couple of other stores (Swindon was given as an example) but they were found to be unreliable because they have a limited range. They agreed that from a Forest Hill store the daily mileage would probably be within range, but there are no plans at present to introduce electric mopeds.

The owner of the pizza restaurant across the road attested to the fact that joining the South Circular is tricky, and this is the reason why they have actually reduced the numbers of deliveries and moped at that shop.

I suggested that they test out how feasible it is to have 20-40 journeys in an hour before the application goes to the planning committee. This would allow them and residents to see how it would work in reality, after all there is little point them opening a store in this location if they cannot make the deliveries work because of the difficulties getting onto and across the South Circular.
