My 15 year old son was mugged on Taymount Rise at about 4.15 today, by three youths of a similar age who followed him from London Road. They were very threatening and punched him before running off with his coat, which had his wallet in it. The positives are that two older teenagers, a boy and girl, stopped to help him, called the police and waited until they arrived. I'm not sure who they were but if anyone does please pass on my gratitude. The police were also very prompt, helpful and proactive, and found his coat and wallet, though not the boys involved.
I think this was just bad luck, but if you do have children coming home this way it may be worth alerting them.

I'm really sorry to hear about this. How's your son? Obviously it will have shaken him up but I hope he's coping okay and getting plenty of support form his friends. It is great that the other guys got involved and helped him out and I hope that you and your son manage to find them. As for the scummy, low-life muggers... I will save you the full version of what I would like to say about them.

Very nasty. Very sorry to read about this. Let's hope these people get caught soon.
