The Jubilee line from Canada Water goes to London Bridge. Its only 2 stops and much less crouded

I've been alternating between cycling and catching the ELL to Shoreditch High St, is there a reliability issue with the new trains? The last few mornings there has been broken down preceding trains. Just bad luck?? Still loving the new line BTW
Have to say Ive enjoyed using the ELL thus far until this morning.
The train I was on this morning felt just like LB train - hot and overcrowded. Also changing at Canada Water this morning was nasty - people were having to resort to crowd surfing to get on the jubilee line to Canary Wharf. Had to let 3 trains go by with absolutely no chance of getting on. There were way too many commuters doing the change this morning.
Hope this isnt a sign of things to come!
The air conditioning appears to be in use intermittently, does anyone else find this?
I think it depends what time you leave in the morning but I definitely found the 8.30am the other day to be every bit as bad as the old direct trains used to be and I am finding it much busier than I would've expected getting the LB train in the evening.
I have observed on the evidence so far that the reduction in service is cancelling out some of the benefits of people diverting to Canada Water.
Blame PPP contractor Tube Lines who haven't completed the signal upgrade for the Jubilee Line in time for the ELL reopening, which means the congestion at Canada Water continues eastbound until October when more trains will be able to run at the peaks.
I believe we're starting to see normal travelling patterns emerge as people have made their mind up which service to use.
The LO services I travelled on today were busy. On the way back, the southbound platform at Canada Water was packed as around 100 passengers boarded the 1730 back to FH. From what I could gather, these were mainly Canary Wharf workers who had come off the Jubilee Line.
Hmmm, but there were big delays at Charing Cross this evening so maybe people just went for Overground instead.
With no trains going through Waterloo East yesterday evening I took the Jubilee and ELL and got home quicker than I would have by going via London Bridge.
If it were not more expensive to travel via underground I would do it every day.

What time did you travel? I walked from Charing Cross to Westminster to catch the Jubilee last evening (because you couldn't even get inside Charing Cross). But, then there was a sick passenger on the Jubilee, which wasn't moving until an ambulance arrived, so I ended up on the District to Whitechapel, then the Overland home.
(not complaining about the Overland, just whinging about my journey...)
I got to Waterloo East at 17:30. I got on the Jubilee at about 17:36, arriving at Canada Water around 17:46. I arrived at FH at 18:00, earlier than I would have if I had been on the 17:51 from London Bridge.
This is probably the fastest I have ever got home from Waterloo except for the taxi I once got late at night returning from Paris. Even then, not much in it.
A reduced service of 4tph will be in operation on the ELL between NXG and Sydenham this Sunday due to engineering works on the Crystal Palace branch.
Crystal Palace services will terminate at New Cross Gate.
Normal services will operate on the West Croydon branch and Southern are operating a normal service.
They really need to cancel or at least reduce the service from Dalston Juction to New Cross. This train is a complete waste of time as no one gets on it! When New Cross Gate is just 5 minutes walk away from New Coss there is no need for this service.
Currently this makes up 1 in 3 trains passing through Canada Water with the other 2 being West Croydon and Crystal Palace. Hopefully they will soon realize this and revise the timetable!
Bit of a hiccup with the trains this morning. Tempers fraying and harried announcers and "yellow line" bouncers.

I agree, Newbie. Especially late at night when the overall service lessens. It makes the ELL not worth using.
My impression is that the number of Overground trains going south of New Cross gate are already getting towards their maximum at peak hours. Anymore would surely mean reducing further the number of London Bridge trains to give the capacity over to the Overground. Evenings are most probably warrant a look at...
You may be right about peak hours. However I dont think it would be a problem outside of rush hour when the trains are far less frequent.
Had to wait for about 25 minutes at Canada Water last night to get back to FH at around 11pm. Would probably have been quicker to go to London bridge on this occasion.
I had the pleasure of using the line for the first time yesterday and loved it! delays on the way home from LB were due to a tresspasser on the line which appeared to be creating havoc for all areas. I guess I'm 'fortunate' that my usual commute only takes me as far as Lewisham but I'm looking forward to using the new line more in my leisure time

Have to disagree with your impression the ELL is close to it's maximum going south of New Cross Gate at peak already. The way I see it is that the trains are designed for a majority of passengers (or 'customers' as they insist on calling us now) standing and there's still been plenty of scope for more of that when I've been on them each evening. I'm comparing this directly to the absolutely rammed Jubilee line trains at peak where people routinely can't fit on which I have yet to see that on the ELL under normal circumstances (unlike this morning ofc). Not saying I'm looking forward to that level of busy of course, just trying to still appreciate the honeymoon period!
As for late at night - the only way I can choose the quickest route of either London Bridge or Canada Water is to check the TFL route finder when I know I'm leaving somewhere, otherwise you can bet I'm going to choose the wrong one...
