The new paved area is great but the car exiting from the car park are now doing so much faster. Nearly hit 10 mins ago.

Also these so called improvements have made it more dangerous for pedestrians , pushchairs and wheelchairs to get to and from the post sorting office in safety.

Why not make one lane for pedestrians only and one for cars , either with lights or signs warning them to give way to cars coming in to the car park. This should ensure traffic goes MUCH slower.

I thought LBC were very pedestrian oriented but totally failed this time. As I said full marks for lovely pavement , but Oh a disaster for safety.

One big problem is that cars exiting cannot see round the wall to check for pedestrians about to cross - and pedestrians cannot see either, especially if they are pushing a pram. It is very dangerous.

Of course there are more pedestrians crossing the car par exit since they removed the much loved Perry Vale island crossing further up.....

The answer is obvious to all - build a nice wide pavement around this blind corner leading up the slope, and remove the pointless central partition.

I rather optimistically assumed that raising the pavement level here was the first step in creating a less steep paved entrance to the car park or even platform 2.

Out of interest who has right of way here. I would say pedestrians as entrance to a car park not another road. Do you agree.

Normally LBC put safety as the main priority with improvements but seem to have joined the automobile lobby with this so called improvement.

Perryman, pedestrian have the right of way over pedestrian crossings, pellican crossings and roads where a driver is turning right and left into.

Please for God sake dont tell people they have the right of way when on foot when they dont. Even though we have the right of way to cross a road when cars are turning into it it is stil a good idea to stop and look as not all car/bike/bicycle drivers/riders know this. As I have said on here before, claiming that you have the right of way whilst lying under a truck is a moot point.

To be pedantic, pedestrians only have right of way if they have started crossing (per highway code 170)

I hasten to add that of course a reasonable driver would ALWAYS give way, but they are not obliged to and plenty don't even give way when they are meant to!!

Look, I am not anti pedestrian, heck, with my leg in a cast I cant ride or drive so walk/stump everywhere but why do pedestrians not look when crossing side roads??? Madness.

Drivers seem , in many cases , to be looking at traffic on PV rather then pedestrians.
Just think the council improvements have made things worse for pedestrians crossing the CP entrance and much much worse for people wanting to go to the sorting office

I'd agree entirely that the new exit from the car park puts pedestrians at risk. I nearly had my legs knocked off by a car speeding down the ramp just as I appeared on foot coming "round the corner" from the station two nights ago. The exit is especially dangerous at night.

Having used the exit as a motorist, the combination of the slope and new surfacing quickly "pulls you down" onto Perry Vale unless you exercise great care.

This isn't an argument of car versus pedestrian. Exits like this should be designed so that pedestrians are protected and car drivers are slowed down. Good road engineering should cater for the careless pedestrian as well as the careless driver.

Is this an issue which can be taken up by the FHS Roads & Transport Committee? We have heard a great deal about the desire of the FHS to lengthen the platform at FH station to provide a new gate with step-free access. Before this is considered, this exit needs to be shown to be completely safe - and it simply isn't at the moment. Imagine the situation if large numbers of train passengers were exiting the station at the same point.

Just spoken to a lady whilst walking past the site in question who again 100% agreed.
No one in authority seems to have answered the question about puchchairs , wheelchairs etc. It is a major hazard for the to enter the car park to get to the sorting office , or their car.
I agree this should not be anti motorist. Many are very consirderate but a minority are not.
It is an accident waiting to happen.

I agree Brian, negotiating the walk from car park to sorting office is very difficult with a pushchair (even more so with extra small child to accommodate). Apart from the complete loss of footpath which we non PO-van drivers are told to stick to, there is a thin area of pavement with no dropped kerb, so even if you managed to get the pushchair up it, you can't stay on it without pushchair, own arms or small child walking nicely and obediently holding on to pushchair bashing in to wall.

If someone can suggest how I find out who to email to highlight this I would be happy to do so.
