Hello,

I just signed the petition, “Lewisham Council: Pedestrian Crossing on Perry Vale - by Forest Hill station.”

If, like me and others you would like to petition Lewisham Council for a pedestrian crossing, here is the link:

https://www.change.org/p/lewisham-counci...r=21722306

Thanks,

BigED

Yes good work for organising this. It's been one of my 'causes' with Lewisham Highways for the years and years.

Thanks, but actually it wasn't me that set it up. I came across it on twitter. Anyway, whoever started it, it's worth a try.

OK noted it was the Forest Hill Society who started it. I fear it will not make them change their minds as they seem to have a blind spot for this location ( Ho,Ho).

It's also a hazard from drivers point of view. The road does tighten up quite strangely and sharply around the newish development, which, I suspect, is why a pedestrian crossing isn't an option at that point. However, if they only enforced existing regulations e.g. parking on double yellow lines by both FH Cars and a van delivering to the convenience store opposite, then a reasonable view could be taken as to whether additional restrictions are required.

There was a discussion on another thread which noted that there used to be a central reservation to assist crossing but my memory is slightly hazy on this. They definitely widened the pavement on the west side as part of the BH flat development (and failed to provide the promised street trees) and narrowed the road but failed to slow down the traffic. Agree that letting cars park on the bend is not helping overall safety.

A central refuge would be useful.

The Forest Hill Society petition for a new crossing on Perry Vale now has over 1,000 signatures.

With the help of Councillor John Paschoud, we intend to hand this petition to Lewisham Council on 18th June at the full council meeting, so this is your last chance to add your name to the list of supporters.
