Looking at how the rails have been deformed, the vehicle looks to have been travelling from Forest Hill and so approaching the bend.

The road here is perfectly straight to this point so this is very odd.
It almost as if they fell asleep at the wheel and just drifted left.

There wasnt any skid marks either which supports this view.

The way the barrier has buckled, you would hope that it absorbed most of the impact and brought the car to an orderly halt. The driver hopefully lived.

So from what we know, a vote of thanks to the person who had the foresight to place these crash barriers along this stretch. And lets have more of them.

There are a couple of bashed up cars at the side of the road on Perry Vale. Anyone see what happened? Hope no serious casualities of course.

Yes I noticed these a couple of evenings ago. I am not surprised cars get hit in Perry Vale. Road really too busy to have cars parked. Cannot believe those that park under the warning sign on the sharp bend by Dacres.

I think we seriously need a pedestrian crossing on the Perry Vale side of the train station. Does anybody agree with me?
There are road humps by the underpass, but the drivers seem to speed up when they see them (I blame the General Lee from the Duke of Hazzard)...

Been discussed many times. The road was straightened slightly to make crossing earier, but the hoarding of the building site do not help line of sight.

The suggestion was turned down based on money and partial traffic disruption.

Personally when crossing, I do it at one end or the other and not right at the underpass. Before the cab station, or past the pub. 95% are going past these points, so it just means staying on the nicely widened pavement for a little longer.

Point taken though, the hoarding is a pain.

Oh I meant to say, the drivers.... complete idiots, but its almost impossible to do much about them. Maybe some speeding tickets would be a nice idea though.

Since I'm here, yes I pleaded at the time for a proper crossing to replace the one they removed.

Unfortunately instead we have the crossing outside the underpass which, despite the tactile paving and it being step free, I could not recommend to my worst disabled enemy, as the visibility is so bad. Agreed, the hoardings do not help.

Hopefully they provide a pelican crossing in the future, especially if there are retail units as part of the development.

Like Perryman, i also complained on here about the removal of the island. we were told that the traffic calming measures and longer sight lines would make crossing easier.
Well it certainly hasn't worked out like that. As its now too narrow for an island, agree that a pelican crossing is the best idea.

At maximum the road would encourage a zebra crossing. While I am not against the idea of a crossing, people have to realise that a crossing does not make it "safe" to cross. It just gives you confidence to walk into the road.

I honestly think that once the hoardings are gone (quite a while yet I know), the visibility on the road will be much improved, as originally planned. Just another frustration caused by the slow down of the markets, and delay in completing the FHC.

I would say the best thing to do is request a review of the road and possibility of getting a crossing. Through the official channels within the council. If people raise their concerns, and put across a reasonable proposal, you will be listened to.

Perryman, nope sorry Just saw the signs up, and was quite honestly saddened by seeing them. Would be lovely to get some more info on them, to know who is vunerable and when. If anyone is on the Westbourne Cafe, maybe they could ask the resident PCSO's.

Just had a call from the police Perry Vale SNT.

The signs are to raise awareness of personal safety and security, and are aimed at the large number of commuters who get off the train at night and immediatly get their phones, iphones, blackberry's, ipods etc out and display them to all as they prepare for their walk.

There have been robberies (time frame not disclosed) however the signs do NOT reflect any sort of increase in crime of this type, and should not be taken as an indicator of certain doom.

So, voila, speedy clarification (thank you officer ) and verification that I got it wrong. lol nothing new there.

I mentioned this last year on The Perry Vale site and a councillor promised action would be taken. The site does not seem to get much action so thought I would try here.
The short stretch of road on Perry Vale from Dacres Road to the entrance to Valentine Court for some reason has no parking restrictions. Only places for about 3 cars but as pointed out this is a blind bend coming up to a primary school.
Just this morning 2 cars in a row just avoided the parked cars then only just the pavement on the Vale Lodge side of Perry Vale/ Dacres Rd.
Back when this was raised it was agreed should be no parking here and it would be done but to date no action taken. Too be honest I would never leave my car there and hope the people that do have good insurance.
Surely this is an imnportant safety issue especially as very near a school.

Agreed. Especially since cars seem to take this particular stretch at some speed completely oblivious to the risk.

Yesterday would only have needed a 356 , Clarks Coach or truck to be coming in the other direction and would have been a disaster.
The parked cars force the traffic into the middle of the road. I accept they are generally going much to fast.

I am sure action was promised last year but cannot locate the original. I think it was Councillor John Pashould ( apologies if spelt incorrectly ) may have been someone else.

Surely this should be a matter of urgency for the Council.

I agree with Brian that cars parked on that bend are at a bit of a risk - but only if drivers are going too fast. The problem is drivers' speed, not parked cars. Generally speaking, parked cars slow down traffic so I would not want to see that bit of the road with yellow lines....that would just encourage traffic to go even faster.

I noticed today that Mayow Road is going to get speed humps. Good luck to the people who live there, Mayow Road needs them.......but so does Perry Vale! I went to the 1st Perry Vale Assembly over a year ago, and the overwhelming priority at that meeting was for traffic calming in Perry Vale and Perry Rise. A year later and......nothing, apart from the few bits up by the station.

If Mayow Road can get traffic calming, why not Perry Vale?
