It looks like Lewisham are taking the opening seriously offering an opportunity for people to watch others demonstrating and showing off the facilities. However nice all this jolly stuff is, it doesn't actually say that anyone is going to be able to get to use the damn thing.
In a moment of complete naivety I paid Fusion £325 for membership of the Leisure Centre last June. I have had some exchange of emails and a telephone call. Everything was very soothing. I could have a refund but the pools would be open in a few days...
In August a 'Customer Relations Manager' emailed and said for a further £36.25 I could "use other facilities for FREE until we are open". I didn't quite see how paying even more counted as getting something for free, and I thought my earlier payment might have qualified for some use of "facilities". I was then promised "couple of passes for Dulwich Leisure center(sic)" These have turned out to have the same materiality as access to the Forest Hill Pools: ie none at all.
So the spectacle on the 22 September promises something for everyone. This includes a taste of activity classes and the pool, which oddly does not sound all that inviting. For people who do not want to taste these things then demonstrations will be given. What would be really good, however, are the details of when the facilities will be open to the public, and possibly even to this poor fool who has paid already.
Earlier in this thread people have observed that Fusion haven't been much good running other Leisure Centres. I wonder to what the 22 September will really be an omen.
