Hi, we're going to move to Honor Oak and are going to view a house in Austin Close that backs on to Blythe Hill fields. We're also interested in viewing a house on Blythe Hill lane. I was wondering if anyone knew what this area was like in terms of any antisocial behaviour and burglaries? I love the idea of backing on to the park, but it could be quite dodgy also in terms of security.

Hi there, we live close to Blythe Hill Fields and have never known any antisocial behaviour - we have been here for 15 years now. It is a lovely, friendly neighbourhood. The park is not lit at night so you don't get many youths up there (as far as I am aware!).
Good luck with it all - look forward to welcoming you when/if you do move in.

thanks for the feedback which is very encouraging to hear. I get such a nice feeling from the area around Blythe Hill fields, I love the views and the light! The Blythe Hill festival sounds great as well! I'll let you know how we get on and if we buy somewhere there. Would be great to meet a neighbour there

Blythe Hill Fields is a lovely area. It's generally pretty quiet and peaceful - only problem I ever hear is the cars going past with music blaring out but nothing you can do about that! It's not very often so not generally anything to worry about. It's good for transport as you are half way between HOP and the two stations in Catford. Also ok for local shops on Brockley Rise. The views are wonderful and if I ever wake up in the night all I hear are the birds singing

Just wanted to add that The Blythe Hill Festival is a lovely day out - great community spirit - it really is a huge credit to the people who give up their time to organise it.
Good luck with your house hunting.

When I used to live up near the top, I would occasionally see, (and smell) at the Brockley View entrance the odd car having pulled up to eat takeaway, drink cans of beer and smoke cannabis, (and leave the litter strewn all over). But the hill is so steep I'd imagine any trouble makers on feet would probably find it too much bother to walk up it.
This was only every now and then though.

That sounds like tamer anti social behaviour than Clapham ( where I currently live). I was worried about things like burglaries with backing on to the park, muggings and class A drug use, we regularly see syringes strewn in the local church garden here!!
