I call it ' incident' with quotation marks as I do not know if it definitely was such or whether it was just something unfortunate but straightforward. I refer to returning to the Sainsburys car park around 3.30pm today to find paramedics standing over a deceased person covered with a blanket just outside the rear entrance.
It may be have been an unfortunate but natural death, but they were waiting for the police so I am not sure whether foul play can be ruled out. The fact that the body was still on the pavement suggested that the person was dead by the time the ambulance arrived.

No doubt we'll hear in due course if a crime was committed. Hope this post does not come across as disrespectful, but like anyone else I am keen to feel safe when I shop there so would naturally like to know more.

Even worse that this is being posted on a public forum.

Ana: Why do you have a problem with this being on a public forum? Surely this will be reported in South London Press in any case.

I believe, and I am sure someone will correct me, that as we have to register to become a member of this forum it is technically not a public forum.

People die all the time - but it is a bit 'net curtain twitching' reporting it...

Without going into the semantics of whether this is a public forum or not, if it were my father, I would prefer that at least a day or two had past , it is just a little insensitive given the speed it appeared on the site. Maybe I am a little olf fashioned, I don't know.

I think Roz was concerned that the incident may have been crime related as apposed to natural causes (which it turns out it was). I am sure we all sympathise with the deceased and their family.

I also think it's a bit inappropriate to spend half the post talking about crime and how it may affect you, when there's a bloke lying dead and you've no idea what the cause was.

But we do now know what the cause was.

We do NOW, yes. Not when the original post was made.

It was a suspicious death. Therefore, police had to be called to investigate as a matter of routine. A similar post was made about a death in Taymount Rise that was also a death by natural causes (I understand).
