Officers from the Met's Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for information and witnesses after a man died shortly after being found collapsed in the road in Lewisham.
Police were called at approximately 02:52hrs on Saturday, 25 November to Waldram Park Road, Forest Hill SE23, following reports of a man found lying in the road.
Officers attended with London Ambulance Service colleagues and discovered a male, believed to be aged in his 40s.
At this early stage officers are working to establish why the man collapsed in the road and the possible involvement of any vehicle.
The man died at the scene at approximately 03:35hrs.
While officers believe they know who the man is, we await formal identification.
Next of kin has been informed. A post-mortem will be scheduled in due course.
Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit [SCIU] investigate and ask anyone who witnessed the incident or has information to call the incident room number 0208 8285 1574 or call the SCIU on 101.
A crime scene was established and road closures implemented.The scene was closed and all roads reopened at just after midday.
