Forest Hill Library Book Group meets from 6.30pm-7.30pm on the second Tuesday of each month.

We've had some excellent books recently. The June title is
"Did You Ever Have a Family" by Bill Clegg. Simply walk into the Library, request the book, read it and turn up on Tuesday, 13th June.

We'd love more members - but are also wondering if anyone would be interested in a daytime group - 2pm (also on the second Tuesday)?

I think it would be really useful if the library on a weekly basis could post on here what is planned for the current week and the following week.

It will help raise the libraries profile, and potentially if things are happening which catch peoples interests/imagination may as a result develop more footfall into the library. Small changes can have a huge impact.

Good idea Samuelsen.

the weekly/monthly events don't change very much, but it always good to give them an occasional boost (you would get bored if I told you about Rhyme Time every week!)

The basic program can be found at:
http://fhlibrary.co.uk/library-programme-events/

Quote:
Lively Minds

Lively Minds is a group for those aged fifty or over (we have one member rapidly approaching double that age!) who meet on the first working Monday of every month at the library or Louise House community space for a talk about an interesting subject from a local expert and some tea and biscuits. Meetings take place from 10.30am and as we get more of a timetable for what the coming talks will be about we will update the web site accordingly. There will also be a notice in the library.

Rhyme Time & Baby Bounce

Getting children into the library is a great way to get them interested in books. We are very lucky to have a spacious Children’s Library at Forest Hill and twice a week we have a sing along for half an hour with pre-school children. Molly has been hosting Rhyme Time on Tuesday morning at 10am for many years and the kids and parents alike love her singing and guitar playing. Generally the set is aimed at the 2-4 year age group, but all are welcome. On a Thursday afternoon at 2pm we have Baby Bounce, which is for younger children and usually involves giving them a shaker or other instrument to join in with. We are on the look out for someone musical, ideally with an instrument, to host this session, but in the meantime we have some volunteers running the sessions.

Book Club

The reading group meets on the second Tuesday of every month in the Library at 6.30pm. We are also looking to start a new book club that will meet during the day.

However, the Origami classes folded due to lack of interest.

Great, are you open to suggestions from others about what they'd also like to see be offered?

Perhaps it would be possible to say what rooms are available in terms of number of people they can accommodate so people can appreciate what can take place in the available spaces.

Purely as an example, drawing/life drawing classes?

I appreciate it's a library, trying to explore ways the space can be fully utilised to create additional income streams to help maintain the library.

I should correct my statement about origami. These classes continue in Louise House as part of the library activity programme.

Pop along to our next Origami Group on 7th June 10.00am at Louise House next to the Library. Relax while you learn an ancient art.

So rather than folding the classes, they are folding classes - an important distinction.
