The planned closures seems to indicate that Overground is running this weekend?

Not running this weekend between New Cross Gate and Crystal Palace.

Looking at the long-term closure plans, it looks much better after Easter. Some overnight closures, but not many.

This weekend is the final large closure of the line.

Easter weekend is split:

Good Friday and Easter Saturday:

A reduced service between Shadwell and West Croydon (Bus between Dalston and Shadwell). No Overground service to Crystal Palace, although Southern will operate two trains per hour to there.

Normal service on Southern with a Saturday service on Friday.

Easter Sunday and Monday:

A normal service on both Southern and London Overground with a Saturday timetable on Southern on Monday.

The 733 Honor Oak Park to Victoria is cancelled again today. This train has run perhaps twice in the last two weeks. No one at my work believes the trains can be this bad which says it all.

From the BBC:

Southeastern has apologised to commuters caught up in yet another morning of disruption at London Bridge.

It is warning of cancellations and delays of up to 100 minutes, due to what Network Rail says is over-running engineering work.

The station has been plagued by disruption during work to rebuild it and last month the company promised an action plan to relieve congestion.

According to one of the fonts of all knowledge today the staff at the station are being given a bonus to reward them for their efforts during these difficult times. Medals would seem more in order given the chaos they are being asked to manage.

No disrespect to the station staff who are operating under severe pressure but shouldn't the priority to have been to reimburse customers with that money - it's not the station staff who are (in many cases) paying thousands of pounds for a service which is not fit for purpose and who are usually unable to get refunds because of the technicalities the train companies use (eg running trains fast and missing out stations)!

am getting very annoyed with the frequent delays and cancellations of the london bridge to victoria train - a couple of times this week it has been delayed in the evening rush hour from victoria going south - to make up the time we all then get dumped off at crystal palace to wait for an overground so the train can go fast to London Bridge. Has also been cancelled at least once this week on the morning commute - as there's only one train every 30 minutes, this can be problematic.

The Victoria - London Bridge route is the lowest priority route I reckon Southern have. It has to cross and intersect a lot of other routes. Which means if it's delayed, it's going to cause a lot of problems.

So for the greater good they run it express to try and catch up on the timetable. Sucks for the people using it, but sadly it probably helps the network overall.

Man, I'm really looking forward to 2018 though (how sad is that). Last weekend when Southern was running, I got in to London Bridge in 12 minutes. 12 minutes. Both in and back. If that's what is possible......i am excited.

Anyone had any "ghost" trains in the evening. I arrived at LB on Monday afternoon to find a wait of 50 min for a train. After hanging around for 15 minutes I asked one of the helpers if there really was a 40 minute wait. They told me a FH train left 5 minutes earlier. It wasn't on the board and there had not been any announcements. When pressed they looked sheepish and suggested I was mistaken.

The 5:53 to Victoria this afternoon was delayed by approximately 7 minutes as a consequence of a member of staff not being available, the same reason the same service was delayed yesterday.

It was then announced that the train would run fast to Crystal Palace - next train at 6:22pm.

I alighted and saw a group of people surrounding a Southern 'Station' manager. People were generally composed albeit frustrated. When asked why it was missing out the preceding stations he stated he did not know & that decision was made by operators at Three Bridges, that it is a decision for senior managers not him. When asked why they are not available to answer the question he said there was no-one based at the station at that level. The general consensus was why he even bothered to be there

When asked about why it is the same problem, lack of staff, he did not know. There is a recurring problem and they are not addressing it.

I found his responses incredulous - they are obviously running trains in this fashion to meet their own targets, but denied it. I appreciate that this route crosses various lines so why did they cancel the West Croydon trains?

The Victoria trains will run fast to Crystal Palace to catch up with the timetable.

It's an obvious answer which for some reason, some of the Southern staff are unable to comprehend on the ground.

I think they understand why it happens, but would you want to be in their shoes, saying that basically the customers living inside the run-fast boundary are not considered important by the company they work for?

Saying that some faceless senior manager has decreed this will be the way to do it avoids an unnecessary confrontation.

It's still rubbish, though.

It was the Southern Ying/Yang this morning. 8:12 was on time (Yipee!), it took 40 minutes to get to LB (Boo!).

Please use these trains. Otherwise they will say there is no demand for them!

Morning to all the 8:12 LB commuters still stuck on the train at 8:41 because of signal failures. Another 15 minutes wait ahead. Didn't they just install these signals? Must have got them off the back of a lorry.
