Had a look at the plans. Crazyhorse, definitely intriguing in that staff changing areas are planned-in. You may well be right in thinking it could be a sainsbury's or Tesco type operation. My money isn't on Sainsbury's, they surely have reached saturation point in FH ? Tesco perhaps, but of course there's one on London Road. My moneys on a left fielder - Budgens perhaps ?

I looked at the planning application and I would expect a decission is due soon or are there too many objectors, most of them are residents very close to the building which is understandable that they are concerned, I would love to see a shop opening there but than it would not have an impact on me so can see their side of the story

shame, no shop but car repair service if it goes through, better than empty but not ideal, can understand the objections from residents in the flats above but lets hope it will be occupied one way or the other

strange decision that and a disappointing one. Surely the disruption caused by a car repair outfit will be greater than from a shop. Pollution, engines revving, heavy tools etc not to mention the obligatory backdrop of workshop radios set at full volume. I also shudder at the thought of the gaudy signage that will be no doubt strewn about the frontage (MOTs while U wait).... If the state of Brockley Cross is anything to go by with all its car and tyre businesses this decision represents a step backwards. The only benefit I can see to the upstairs residents is that a car garage's core business hours is usually confined to 9-5, unlike a shop that may well open late. Does the Forest Hill Society not have a view on this ?

just to clarify, as far I can see the company applying for planning is a car repair company, they might just open a spare part shop or branch out into fruit and veg :-)

I'm not sure where you get a car repair company from.

There is an application for "The change of use of part of the ground floor at 199 Perry Vale SE23 from Business (use Class B1) to retail (Use Class A1), together with the installation of a new shop front in the front elevation.(Please note Listed Building Consent DC/12/79996)." Application DC/12/79194/X and another application for listed building consent to install the shop front. (DC/12/79996/X)

A1 is use for all or any of the following purposes:
(a) for the retail sale of goods other than hot food,
(b) as a post office,
© for the sale of tickets or as a travel agency,
(d) for the sale of sandwiches or other cold food for consumption off the premises,
(e) for hairdressing,
(f) for the direction of funerals,
(g) for the display of goods for sale,
(h) for the hiring out of domestic or personal goods or articles,
(i) for the reception of goods to be washed, cleaned or repaired,
(j) where the sale, display or service is to visiting members of the public.
(k) as an internet café; where the primary purpose of the premises is to provide facilities for enabling members of the public to access the internet

Vehicle storage and servicing of vehicles would require permission for B2 use. An explanation as to Building Use Classes can be found here

I apologise, the initial search off the aplicants name brought up a car repar company under that name, I checked the address and its in the same area hence the confusion, we can all rest in peace again Smile

Thanks FHS for your very prompt response to this matter. I guess we await final confirmation of who/what will open on the site. Stefan, glad your research was inaccurate !

I notice there's quite a lot of work starting to happen here now and wondered if anyone had ascertained what was happening there?

Had a quick chat with the workmen in the week, nothing new happening there, there's some flats on the top floor (they've been there over a year apparently) and they're just painting and decorating the ground floor communal areas

Thanks Andy. I was hoping it might have been a sign of something more exciting. They've definitely been working hard on those old doors.
