I will indeed email the Brockley Jack management. It was my birthday lunch and I was so gutted! Have also been meaning to try question bar and I love canvas and cream...fabulous place!
Does any one know what the old gym total body fitness is going to be on davids road? Noticed quite a lot of work going on there, I'm Curious!
There is another Food Fair this Sunday - 7th April, with some exciting new stalls setting up for the first time.

A year of Forest Hill Food Fairs is definitely worth celebrating. Not really a local business, though. The whole point of these businesses is that they are not local. Separate thread, Admin?
I'm going to try and get down to that. The food fair that is
Hi there
Soon to be moving to FH with my 1 year old. Can anyone please recommend childcare please?
Many thanks in advance.
The new chef at the Question bar is very good. I've had various homemade soups and homemade burgers which I would recommend. Also the stone baked pizza's are really good, and great value for money.
We are looking for someone to walk our beautiful chocolate Labrador, Monty. He is currently 5 months old and is a little bit bouncy! He should calm down over the coming months, but in the meantime experience is vital. He loves runs on the fields, to retrieve and to please us. He's very friendly and good natured.
Required from late May/early June. Probably required 2-3 days per week.
If you can help or know someone, please get in touch.
Thanks!
Dear all, I note that Wok Express is now offering patrons the choice to sit outside and enjoy their noodles in the freezing cold with traffic fumes for added flavour. As much as I admire their optimism for a glorious British spring/summer and also their attempts to cash in on the influx of yummy mummies desperate to recreate a little bit of Tuscany in south London (there are benefits to being priced out of Dulwich, they can have four holidays per year now) somehow I think the cost of the timber would have been better spent on replacing the manky sign that gives the impression that customers will be served by a woman with a bubble perm as it's straight out of the 1980s. If you are going to tart up your premises, at least do it properly!

There was a planning application in 2008 to add an extra floor and convert the top floors to residential. Permission was granted in July 2008 but it only lasts for 3 years so would have expired last year, unless they had already started work. However there were some conditions that had to be approved by the Council before work could begin and there's no sign of those on the planning website. http://planning.lewisham.gov.uk/online-a...CAPR_53364
Don't know about the ground floor, apart from new windows and changes to the entrance in relation to the upstairs development. In the 2008 application there was a letter from the gym's owner saying he was going to update the gym and fitness equipment, but that was dated 2006 so I don't know if that's still his intention.
Hi all
I'm delighted that myself and my husband and 1 yo are moving to Forest Hill in a few months.
Just wondering if anyone could recommend some good nurseries or childminders or childcare generally in the area. Am currently bringing daughter to a nursery near work and don't fancy dragging her through my commute each day when we move so looking for somewhere more local to the new house.
Cheers

Where is the best place for breakfast within reach of Forest Hill? Any suggestions?
Many thanks!
Big Breakfast on Dartmouth Road. Good breakfast, nice staff, clean and recently spruced up. Bang in the middle of the High Street.
thanks Alisa!
Any other thoughts?
Hi
Can anyone recommend a childminder in the Honor Oak Park area? I'm looking for a full time place for my little boy. He will be approximately 10 months old when I return to work. I would ideally like the place from August.
Thanks
Kate
ForestHillFan - re 'Breakfast' question.
My preference is for the Gym Cafe, which is bang opposite the pools.
Their cheapo £3.70 breakfast is:-
1 egg
1 sausage or bacon
Beans or tomato
2 toast
Tea or proper coffee
Obviously they do loads of other options and you can get a proper feast for just over a fiver.
Enjoy!
The Oak Cafe on Honor Oak Park, great breakfast.
Hi, I have a friend coming to stay with her fourteen year old son. He really likes things like go karting and sports. I wondered if anyone could recommend any activities in the local area that would appeal to him.
Hi shimmysister check this out
http://www.thereach.org.uk It's in Woolwich but you can get there by bus, and the owner Amos lives in Forest Hill. My 10 yr son and 15 yr old daughter love it.
