It made me chuckle too when I read it last night -
and then I was gonna put, 'yeh, especially if they're in wheelchairs!'
But then I thought better of it.
(I'm sure I will be made to wish I'd kept that to myself).
According to Network Rail letter, they should be finished this month.

Does anyone know if the lifts are working yet?
They were still taped off on Wednesday.
The posters have now been updated to say that the lifts will be open in January (2015, hopefully). I asked the member of staff manning the barriers this morning what the issue was.
His response: "Apparently the contractors are worried that if anybody gets stuck they won't have staff available to retrieve them." He did say that he was expecting that the lifts will start to operate next week, but we've been told next week/month since early November, so I am not holding my breath.
I would really like the person responsible for managing this piece of work to do a meet-and-greet with their customers at the station at some point. I'd love to hear their side of the story on this whole sorry farce.
Not working today....hopefully next week. When I say not working they look like they might be, but still cordoned off.
Still not working this morning.
I am tempted to hire a brass band and some cheerleaders for that glorious official opening day. Perhaps we could get someone from TFL to cut a ribbon or two and hold a speech.
I have emailed one of the local councillors (Roy Kennedy, who appears on here from time to time) to see if a more official query can produce any better info.
Seeing what appear to be completed lifts sitting there unavailable for us to use is incredibly frustrating. Continuous slipping of the completion/operation date and particularly the lack of transparency/accountability from London Overground is incredibly disappointing.
Blaming "the contractor" seems to them to be completely unacceptable, as if they have no responsibility or control for the work on which they are ultimately going to sign off.
It's a good idea Tinkerbell, but then the band will be unavailable on the day and the opening will be put back
It's a new year, I remain optimistic for a Jan opening.
Last January, which is when I think the work began, I was optimistic for a March opening. Looking good still

The lifts are open and working. I've just treated myself to a descent to see that it really is true. Hurrah!
Hooray!
(would have been even better if they'd been open last night when I had two bikes to haul up...)
A TFL tweet that made me chuckle today.
@LDNOverground: Honor Oak Park station - No step free access to the platforms while we fix a faulty lift.
