Perhaps but is there more disruption planned in 15 years time? Well yes, probably, but this extension is very far from being a done deal - it is just a consultation about something that won't happen for a generation.

Transport for London commissioner Sir Peter Hendy has said that a southern extension of the Bakerloo line could be completed within the next 15 years - a decade earlier than City Hall predicated last summer.

Hendy told a TfL board meeting: "Work is under way to update key elements of the costs, refresh the business case, and investigate a number of alternative route options suggested via the consultation. Subject to feasibility, funding and powers, an extension could be delivered by 2030."

This email just arrived regarding the 'BakerLew' extension (and I'll keep calling it that until someone laughs!)

Quote:
Dear Sir/Madam

Thank you for taking part in our consultation earlier this year and/or registering for Bakerloo line extension project updates.

The consultation report is now available online at http://www.tfl.gov.uk/bakerloo-extension.

During the consultation we received more than 15,000 responses. Overall, support for extending the Bakerloo line was high. More than ninety five percent of responses expressed support for the principle of extending the line.

A media release regarding the results is available at http://www.tfl.gov.uk/info-for/media/pre...-extension

Over the coming months, we will continue reviewing the case for the extension in view of the consultation feedback and carry out further investigations into route options. We will also be working on responding to the issues raised in the consultation, with an aim to release this report later in the year.

If you have any questions regarding the project or the consultation please email ble@tfl.gov.uk

Yours faithfully

Peter Bradley
Head of Consultation
Transport for London

I just started having a look through the responses summary (about 380 pages!). And I couldn't help but notice that the consultation received submissions from.....

* Dozens of businesses
* Resident groups
* Forest Hill Society Transport Committee
* Kings College Hospital
* Charities
* Faith groups
* Six London boroughs (Bexley, Bromley, Croydon, Lambeth, Lewisham, Southwark)
* Various Assembly councillors
* and the MPs for Bermondsey and Old Southwark (Simon Hughes), Bromley and Chislehurst (Robert Neill), Dulwich and West Norwood (Tessa Jowell), Streatham (Chuka Umunna), Lewisham East (Heidi Alexander), and Camberwell and Peckham (Harriet Harman)

No sign of the MP for Lewisham West and Penge (Jim Dowd), however.

Bakerloo Line Extension - TFL Response

pdf available here

Quote:
1.1. To inform further development of proposals for a Bakerloo line extension, an initial consultation took place between 30th September and 7th December 2014. This was to help TfL understand local and wider views on the principle of extending the Bakerloo line.

1.2. In March 2015 TfL published the results of the consultation. This is available online at http://www.tfl.gov.uk/Bakerloo-extension

1.3. This report sets out the TfL response to the main issues raised by consultees. The issues and the responses have been grouped according to themes and broadly follow the order of questions as presented during the consultation, with each question covered chapter by chapter. A copy of the consultation questions is available in Appendix A.

The Bakerloo Line Options Assessment Report is now available here- https://consultations.tfl.gov.uk/tube/ba..._final.pdf

Preferred option is to focus on a route to Lewisham via OKR with the current option terminating at Lewisham but with the potential for future extensions in later phases.

FH was considered as part of a route via Crystal Palace - see page 49.

Ha ha ha, yes. That is funny because the original "loo" in Bakerloo Line came from the original termination of the line at Waterloo, but "BakerLew" references the new termination point, which is Lewisham, and provides a Line name that sounds identical, but is spelt differently.

Hope that helps.
