Strike/overtime ban and weekend engineering works update.

Friday 29th September: Overtime ban.

Normal service from all stations.

Saturday 30th September:

Forest Hill/Honor Oak Park: No Southern service, London Overground will be operating a normal service but expect trains to be busier than normal especially to/from West Croydon as Southern won't be operating any trains except for a fast service from Victoria to Gatwick and Brighton.

Catford Bridge/Lower Sydenham: No service due to industrial action.

Crofton Park/Catford: No service due to industrial action.

Sunday 1st October:

Forest Hill/Honor Oak Park. Southern services to London Bridge and Victoria are reinstated from around 0800. Normal service on London Overground.

Catford Bridge/Lower Sydenham: Normal service resumes from around 0800.

Crofton Park/Catford: Replacement bus service from Herne Hill to Bromley South.

Monday 2nd Oct-Friday 6th October: Overtime ban week and strike action on Wednesday.

Forest Hill/Honor Oak Park: Normal service on Southern and London Overground. Note that there is a reduced service elsewhere and some lines aren't served at all on the Southern network, so check before you travel. On Wednesday, there are no Southern services from Forest Hill and Honor Oak Park.

Catford Bridge/Lower Sydenham: Normal service except for Wednesday where is no service at all.

Crofton Park/Catford: Normal service except for Wednesday with no service.

In addition, there is planned strike action on London Underground on Wednesday 4 and Friday 6 October. If the strikes go ahead, there will be severe disruption across the whole Tube network. There will be no Night Tube on Friday 6 October.

This may also affect passengers using London Overground services to Canada Water, Whitechapel and Highbury & Islington. However there has been staff cover for those stations for most of the day during previous strikes.

Some suggestions for alternative routes if the tube strikes in addition to the rail strikes go ahead next week.

London Bridge - Overground to Canada Water and then the 47 from Canada Water Bus Station. It can also be achieved from Rotherhithe Station and then the 381.

Waterloo - 176 from Forest Hill to Waterloo or Overground to Rotherhithe and then the 381 or C10. 172 from Brockley Rise to Waterloo.

Charing Cross - 176 from Forest Hill to Charing Cross. 172 to Brockley Rise to Aldwych and then change for a bus or walk along The Strand. Overground to Whitechapel then bus 15.

Cannon Street - Overground to Canada Water, bus 47 to Monument, then walk.

Victoria - 185 from Stanstead Road, Waldram Park Road, Forest Hill Station or London Road to Victoria. It can also be done using a mix of rail and bus. Overground to Rotherhithe then the C10. (It can also be done from Canada Water, but it's a longer ride). Personally I'd wait for the 185. Honor Oak Park passengers may want to get the 171 or 172 to New Cross Gate bus garage and then change for the 36.

Tottenham Court Road - 176 to Tottenham Court Road or Overground to Whitechapel and the the Elizabeth line to Tottenham Court Road.

Oxford Circus: Overground to Whitechapel, Elizabeth line to Bond Street, then use the Hanover Square exit and walk. 176 to Elephant and Castle, then 12 or 453 to Oxford Circus.

Clapham Junction - 176 or 185 to Denmark Hill Station, then Overground to Clapham Junction. It can also be done by using the Overground to Surrey Quays and then to Clapham Junction.

East Croydon - Overground to West Croydon, then either tram, numerous local buses or walk or the 197 from Forest Hill to East Croydon.

Gatwick Airport - A cab would be your best bet, but will be even more expensive on strike days. The alternative is to travel to Victoria by bus and then Southern who are running fast trains to Gatwick and Brighton.

Alternative route for Croydon;

363 from Forest Hill Road, or Woodvale, or Melford Road/Underhill Road, or Lordship Lane (The Barracks) to the other end of Sydenham Hill, alight Bluebell Close,
Walk around the corner (3min walk),
227 to Beckenham Road Tram stop
Tram all the way into Croydon

The Elizabeth line is operating as normal. Also the tube strikes have been called off, so you can use the Jubilee line from Canada Water tomorrow and Friday as usual.

An early look at Christmas rail changes from Forest Hill and Honor Oak Park which see significant changes between the 26th and 29th December. This is subject to change.

Sunday 24th December: Normal service until the evening. Last train from London Bridge at 1928. Last train from Victoria at 1950. The final Overground service is from Whitechapel at 2156 and Canada Water at 2203.

Monday 25th December: No service.

Due to the closure of the East London Line core section for work building the new entrance to Surrey Quays station, along with additional engineering works between Sydenham and Norwood Junction, there is no service between Highbury & Islington and New Cross Gate and Sydenham and West Croydon between the 26th and 29th December.

Tuesday 26th December: A shuttle service will operate every 30 minutes between New Cross Gate and Crystal Palace.

Services to New Cross Gate will operate at x22 and x52 past each hour starting at 0822 with the final service at 2222.

Services to Crystal Palace will operate at x26 and x56 past each hour starting at 0826 with the final service at 2226.

Passengers can change at Crystal Palace for replacement bus services to Anerley, Norwood Junction and West Croydon.

Wednesday 27th-Friday 29th December: As above except that shuttles will operate until just before midnight with a normal service on Southern between London Bridge and Victoria. There is no service to West Croydon.

Saturday 30th-Sunday 31st December: A normal service on Southern and London Overground. On Sunday evening, New Years Eve, the Night Overground is extended to Crystal Palace and West Croydon, operating every 7/8 minutes to our stations and 15 minutes to West Croydon and Crystal Palace.

Monday 1st January: A Sunday service operates.
