Saw a notice at the station this morning saying no northbound trains this weekend. Tried looking online for more details but it doesn't make much sense:

Southern's version
Network Rail's version

According to Network Rail's online timetable (which takes engineering works into account) you can go south to Norwood Junction and take a fast train to LB. The LB to Victoria service will start at Crystal Palace, so no FH to Victoria trains (and therefore fewer LB to FH trains).

Has anyone ever heard a recorded announcement at FH station advising passengers of weekend engineering works and referring them to station notices for details? The Forest Hill Society suggested to Southern that such an announcement would be useful and the reply was that there already was one. Can't say I've ever heard it.

Personally I wouldn't bother with their alternative suggestions as its much too long and difficult with lots of potential for other complications. Much better to either catch a P4 to Lewisham or Brixton or a bus to East Dulwich station or Catford Bridge and then on from there- something I'll be doing tomorrow! Assuming these lines are running too of course....

I think on the 3rd of May the engineering works will be around Shoreditch, so they will not affect us, they need to put in place bridge GE19.

Did anybody notice the new bridge this morning across the railway at New Cross Gate?

Watch it being fitted into place:

Yep, it's even got anti-pigeon spikes underneath. Thanks for the link, I was hoping someone was taking pictures.
