Does anyone know what is happening at Louise House? My understanding was that it would become a hub for artistic and community activities???

That's good but I haven't heard anything about it. If there are things going on there how do I find out about them? Last time I went past there was no info outside. There is something on the website about children's art classes but that's all. Given the location and the potentially valuable community resource I would have thought there should be more going on and more information available about it.

If you click on their website it gives you the opportunity to join their mailing list or you can follow them on Twitter. One of the main exponents for the library and V22 is sadly no longer on this site as she is able to share a wealth of information.

I can't find anything on their website about an exhibition. It does seem quite difficult to find out about their activities.

Yes I agree - absolutely nothing of any use on their website. All seems a bit of a white elephant to me - a bit of an elitist group doing their own thing in what could have been a useful community resource. Not all of us want or use Twitter and this should not become the default way of communicating.

I think you are meant to check http://sydenhamarts.co.uk/whats-on/syden...am-lens-2/ to find out about the program of events across Sydenham. Not a huge amount of publicity in Forest Hill but i think i saw some leaflets in the library and Pauline's shop and this event was advertise on some local forums.

Do they want it to be a community resource or not? As I am sure I don't have to tell you, if you are aiming at community development you should be communicating actively with as many people as possible, not expecting people to find out what they are 'meant to' do in order to get information.

Well hello peeps, seems like I'm able to post again!
Melissa, feel free to message me for any info you want & happy to share with you.
V22 have lots of events going on, but also have to pay staff members to oversee these. Summer club was a Hugh success & as Michael pointed out most of the Sydenham Arts events were in Sydenham & only a couple in FH, so not massivly advertised in FH but I have Brochures at my shop as does the library..
If my post is edited in any way I won't post again on here.
Pauline

I have Brochures at my shop as does the library.
So that's the sum total of the marketing effort for this "community resource"?
If my post is edited in any way I won't post again on here.
It looks like you edited your own message 3 minutes after posting it. Does that mean you just silenced yourself?

Hillview, I edited my post to add the last sentence.
FYI When there is Events at LH most of the shops have flyers & I also have an A frame chalk board (provided by LH) that I put outside my shop with listings & times. So it's slap bang in the middle of D Rd!
This particular event was a Sydenham Arts event & V22 kindly gave their space for one of the exhibitions. If they didn't FH probably wouldn't have been able to be involved in this overall event.
I also post (as does V22) events on other local forums.

I have signed up to the newsletter and will get a brochure from the library. However it's not a matter of what I want but what the company wants and how effectively they are doing it. I look forward to more events in Forest Hill

What a great advert for V22 and the alt-library!
And what short memories.
If it wasn't for this forum, the front of the swimming-pool and the whole of Louise House itself would have been flattened.
It was arguably the forum's crowning moment, but given the subsequent events, I'm coming round to Roz's point of view - they should have flattened the whole block and built housing.

Why should local residents be forced to go to commercial shops to find out about a "community resource"? It sounds like a cosy relationship.
