Thanks rhsdunlop for the Sydenham car park tip. I am sure there are probably signs to it but driving down Sydenham high street is a bit crazy what with all the wandering pedestrians / cyclists / speeding drivers / numerous traffic lights, so have had my eyes elsewhere and haven't managed to spot the car park signs!

So yes it's better as a driver if you know about the car parks in advance.

Got my first parking ticket for simply parking on the street I live in. Got home at 7PM but the whole road was full so I left it in a bay and completely forgot about it. Nightmare. Why everyone is so against a CPZ is beyond me. I'm more than happy to park my car around the corner and have a stroll but what really worries me are the elderly or those with children who need to be as close to their front door as possible. Perhaps one day the people will see sense.

A question about the CPZ: when there was a consultation, were neighbouring areas immediately outside the CPZ consulted, too? Presumably so...?

Some were, some weren't. they did this by consulting on a massive area in Forest Hill, so that a lot of people could taker part, however they left out anybody on the other side of the railway, some of whom would be impacted.

I got my second ever parking ticket last weekend, for parking too long outside the library. Stupid of me not to check the sign right by the car. I forgot that Thorpewood Avenue had restricted parking at that point, before 7pm, I'm so used to going there at 7:30pm

The first time I got a parking ticket my car had broken down, which I understand technically means I wasn't parked illegally. So this is really my first proper parking ticket - after 24 years driving. Really I think that should entitle me to a special discount, but apparently not.

They hurt, don't they!!! I haven't had many but I resent each and every one. Bad signage is the usual cause. I can think of just one where I took a gamble and lost.

Anyway - thanks for that Michael. I've heard a rumour of a CPZ covering part of the Perry Vale area.

Caught on of the scooter guys writing my wife a ticket outside our house. Went out and showed him my Ringo parking confirmation email. His machine wasnt showing it so he checked with base. Base confirmed parking was paid for so he tore the ticket up and said sorry for the mistake. They are spot on those scooter guys.

Hi Shiro

I am against it in general, but don't mind a 12-2pm restriction for example which is what I stated on the consultation, or making it pay and display at that time.

My parents have it where they live and it makes it for friends and family to visit them during the week if they are driving.

I understand the need to stop commuters parking in people's roads all day but I think we also need to get the right scheme in to meet the objectives people want, without causing undue difficulties for 'genuine' visits.

Hope your parking situation improves - the roads in HOP certainly always look quick packed.

not really. £30 is the same as half a tank of petrol. i don't have money to throw around but one parking ticket in 10 years isn't going to bankrupt me. and the sign was right by my car, so it was only me at fault.
