Thats not a bad idea.
The whole thing hasnt been managed very well from a signage point of view and heaven knows what will happen next week when people come back from hols and the school runs start. Cars have been seen going down Manor Mount without a second thought and this will probably continue. Its not at all clear to drivers that they can still access Sainsburys via Waldenshaw-legally.
Traffic is still heavy at all hours on the side residential roads and many drivers have been silly, hooting, shouting, yelling etc at other motorists when they realise that actually, these roads cant accommodate two way traffic at the same time if there are cars parked on both sides as tends to happen in residential areas.
May it all get an even speedier move on although I suspect that the recent heavy rain may have caused other problems and may potentially delay completion.

Maybe it would be sensible to suspend the one-way restriction on Manor Mount while the A205 has work done?
This would perhaps spread the load which is disturbing Roz and the residents of Dartmouth Road.

To correct my earlier post, it turns out there will not be a bouncy castle on the South Circular this weekend. But as has been pointed out you can still stroll down the road to the Horniman Museum and Gardens or visit one of the cafes/pubs/shops in Forest Hill.

Last weekend........ I was a little baffled as to why there were familys with children sitting very close to the sewage works, and sitting on dirty pipes eating food? Now I get it........ it was a party!??
Just seemed a little odd and maybe unsafe, perhaps the Hornimans gardens would have been a more sensible option?

I live on Dartmouth Road and i'm sick of it. Heavy traffic is one thing but the speed some of the moody drivers (including buses) are going up the road, it is literally making the building shake. Is there a department at the council who deal with compensation claims for re-plastering?!

Changing the phasing of the lights at the junction with Honor Oak and London Roads might help. There are long tail-backs on Honor Oak Rd as traffic is held for the South Circular which has next to nothing on it!

Can anyone shed any light on when the works will finish, Kids are back to school this week - the summer is officially over. The roads will be gridlock.

Glad to see that the signage has improved at least to enable it to be seen! The bulk of the traffic and ensuing problems will probably start after next weekend as most local schools are just back Thursday and Friday this week. Hopefully people will plan ahead to take other routes/walk.

That's great news, but two new traffic islands are about to be constructed at the junction of Perry Vale and Westbourne Drive outside the Co-op. According to a TfL traffic order there will be no exit from Perry Vale and no left turn into either Stanstead Road or Westbourne Drive from 6 Sept - 30 November

I've just driven 1200 miles up from Northern Spain along Western France, ferry then to home, and the first traffic problems I encountered were here. Clearly a sign that I am not wanted.

I walked along London Road today and noticed the section of road by Sainsburys has been resurfaced and the section has been filled in by The Capitol. Bar some line painting, it does look set to re-open on Sunday.
On the other hand, I'll miss the quiet walking along from Waldenshaw to Honor Oak Road!

The road has re-opened a day early. 176, 185, 197 and 356 buses are now also running back down London Road.

Coming out of Forest Hill Station today, onto Perry Vale, I saw a succession of cars passing the 'No Entry' and 'Road Closed' signs and carrying on down Perry Vale on the wrong side of the road. Bizarre. You always get one who thinks the rules don't apply to them, but everyone? I'm assuming the work hasn't started yet so they can still squeeze through to the South Circular. There was a police car hot on their tails - not sure how he would catch up with and book ten or more drivers (assuming it was them he was chasing).

Oh, is this why the 356 is diverted towards FH?

Yes, drivers cannot drive to the end of Perry Vale and exit onto Waldram Park or Stanstead Road, that is closed. But there's nothing to say that they cannot drive down Perry Vale, turn left into Waldram Place and then onto Waldram Crescent. That's what they were doing yesterday when I walked by.

Yes there is - there is a 'no entry' sign where the cones start at the underpass.
