I've always found WHSmiths to be very gloomy. I never even realised there was an upstairs, to be honest, as the whole place is badly lit and makes you want to scuttle in and out as quickly as possible. Having said that, I'm glad FH has a WHSmiths. Here's hoping the PO upstairs improves things. It should at least mean people go *through* there and see what's on offer along the way.
