Yes and it is JUST a supermarket. You DON'T have to go in there every day, if their "Christmas" spirit annoys you so much. Would you prefer they banned Christmas as it is offensive to non Christian people, are you one of them ?

I wouldnt mind the muzak so much if the vegetables were fresh. I kid you not, this week the carrots were actually soft, yellow and mouldy. The spuds were green! The state of veg in that shop is a disgrace.

Interesting paradox that the posters on this site that seem to get most irritated (sometimes to the point of personally attacking) are often those who take issue with people who express irritation. Just saying like, millesens.

I'd prefer it if they banned it in September, yes.

The quality of the fresh fruits and vegetable in our local Sainsbury's is very poor. A while ago we spotted many items with a past "use by date" on sale. I have complained there and then at the tills and they pretended to be surprised. The day after we would find even more products like that on the shelves. I also wrote to the manager. I never even received a reply. I also find a lot of till staff very rude; I could write a book on how disappointing our local Sainsubury?s is. Instead I only shop there for packed foods like pasta and rice and some dairy. I avoid buying their fresh produce in general. I recently discovered that the fruits and vegetables on sale in the Lidl in Sydenham (oh my God, LIDL, a crowd of se23.commers was heard murmuring?) much better, less packaging and more variety. And, back to the original thread, I don?t think they have any Christmas music on or have a Father Christmas greeting you, although I may have not noticed. I tend to spend a very little time in supermarkets as I don?t have to shop for a big family.

I must say that I'm a huge fan of Lidl and would recommend them to anyone, particularly for their fruit juices, sweets, biscuits and charcuterie - although I'd say the fresh fruit & veg. is of highly variable standard - from excellent to rather droopy.

They've had their continental Christmas goodies, to which I am extremely partial, out since September too, though. I'd recommend the chocolate covered gingerbread stars, especially in plain chocolate at about ?1.49 a box. With a loop of thread they make top edible tree decorations.

It would seem that Sainsbury's seem to have lost a sense of priority here. Rather than spending time and money on muzak, why not divert it to more effective stock and quality control. That seems to be on peoples' minds here. I don't see why my preference to be able think when I go into a supermarket and further engorge their coffers should cause my Christmas spirit to be questioned. In fact, without being po-faced, isn't the true spirit to consider others and not the present hysterical debt-fest for the populace and beat it to death commercialistion of business. And no I am not advocating a return to an orange and sprig of holly and that's your lot. I would just like to go into a food shop and be able to make reasoned decisions without Frosty the bleedin' Snowman!!

Good news, today at Sainbury's Bell Green no cheesey xmas muzak was heard at all.
Also three cases of Stella larger (if you like that sort of thing) are on sale for 20 quid !!
Should keep the Chav's happy and punch a hole in pub/bar profits over the holidays.
Ho-Ho-Hic !

One loud voice can make a difference !
