Well I got of the bus a stop early to post a letter yesterday.... and looked in amazement at the hole where I was sure a postbox used to be..... and then saw it on the back of a lorry outside Toerag, where it is now concreted in. Didn't like to ask if the workman would mind if I clambered up on the truck to post my letter. Ah well.
I have just received a notice from TfL indicating that the works to modify the road layout will take place between 9pm and 5am from 8th to 26th February.

The bus lane will now start 20m east of Waldenshaw Rd, the bus stop will go and there will be 'right turn pockets' for Waldenshaw Rd and Taymount Rise. They have apparently consulted 'stakeholders' but I have not seen any sign of the traffic order they promised in July 2008

For your information, the removal of the eastbound bus lane situated to the west of Waldenshaw Road will require a Traffic Order. This Traffic Order will be advertised in the local papers and on site and people will have a further opportunity to make comments or object to the proposals during this formal consultation period.

Notices have gone up on Waldenshaw Road advising of restrictions due to raodworks. I just hope they fix the water leak at the juncion of London Road and Waldenshaw Raod before they start the work.
Wonder whether these "improvements" will make my evening cycle down the hill more or less scary. I generally have my heart in my mouth the whole way from the Horniman down to my turn off into Perry Vale
Just be VERY careful at the Waldenshaw Road turning. Not a nice place for a cyclist let alone a motorcycle (when I had one)
I always am Londonrz - I've been cycling down that hill almost every day for the 7 years I've lived in Forest Hill and that junction never ceases to terrify me - Even cycling round the Elephant & Castle roundabout doesn't inspire as much dread.
