Definitely the wrong sort of snow thenThumbdownThumbdown
Morning.

I think everything is suspended today. Is this one of those lets go sliding down Horniman Drive on a tea tray days?
Thanks for posting the info. Do you know if the trains are going?
Just got on a London Bridge train, busy but not too packed
Thanks, very helpful.
There were a lot of cancellations on Southern this morning. I got the 7:20 at 7:30 from Forest Hill which left people standing on the platform at HOP and other stations.
London Bridge boards are virtually blank with very few trains running on South Eastern or Southern.
Trains are best avoided today if possible.
Currently no stopping trains between London Bridge. People heading south are being told to go to London Bridge for fast trains if heading to Croydon.
Makes sense I suppose so to get the more trains stopping to bring people into town.
"Between London Bridge *& Croydon*.
Got to FH at 9.15, a whole list of cancellations on the board, however a train arrived at 9.22 to London Bridge which was already packed. Crushed like sardines all the way, with passengers at HOP, Brockley and New Cross Gate asking people to move down.

Got to LB, no trains to Charing Cross, so off on the Jubilee and Northern to Charing Cross. Only 15 mins late for work.
As of 11am. ELL is now running in three sections with severe delays.

Dalston to New Cross
New Cross Gate to West Croydon
Dalston to Crystal Palace.
Third rails are much cheaper to install and more energy efficient (especially on Southern which were some of the first to use braking to put power back into the system). Third rails are not so often used in rural areas because of the problems with people at level crossings or large animals getting onto the line.

However, overhead power lines do break (usually due to high winds and sometime build up of ice) and the time taken to get trains running again can be much longer. But it is apparently the system used in Scandinavia for most trains because it is more robust in snow and cold weather.
The TfL is still showing Overground as severe delays and talking about 30 min service to each of West Croydon and Crystal Palace (so possibly 4 trains/ph through to Honor Oak / Forest Hill).

An alternative is the DLR (which at 11:30am was sending trains Lewisham to Bank every 10 mins), though that gives a P4/122 bus to HOP/FHill

Either way - leave in good time!
On cue a colleague has just complained that all his trains home are cancelled (on C2C) ... because of a broken overhead power line
Do leave in good time. I went the Jubilee Line/DLR route to Lewisham last night and buses were fairly hard to come by to do the last bit of the journey and then had a tendency to terminate for no apparent reason....

Can anyone report how or if trains are going from London Bridge to Forest Hill?
I’ve just don’t the journey from Canada Water to HOP on the Overground. No problems at all. Good luck getting home everyone
Last night I arrived at London Bridge at 10.30pm. All the trains were cancelled or running with severe delays that they could not give a timescale for. The queue for a cab was frightening and the buses were completely overcrowded. Having heard that the overground was running a limited service to Sydenham, we headed to the overground. When we got there it was clear it was running with severe delays. After an hour, when we finally got on a train at Canada Water, they said it would be terminating at New Cross. I got the bus from there and arrived into Forest Hill at 1pm. Two and a half hours later. Fortunately I was with someone but it was hell! Thankfully I have brought the car into work as I cannot face a repeat performance and it seems to be even colder tonight. Avoid public transport if you are fortunate enough to be able to because it's no fun out there!
I tend to get the 185 bus to Oval, then tube. Seems to be more reliable than the trains during snow/a cold snap.
I got the 176 back tonight. Didn't fancy risking it back on the train.
