As didnt someone get arrested and imprisoned for laying a bit of bacon inside/outside a mosque ?

Really think we are to soft in this Country - there is to much freedomn

Not quite sure the two offences are comparable.
While I have no time for the group the flag represents, it would be deemed as freedom of expression, but in poor taste.

Wrapping bacon around door handles of a mosque would be seen as racially motivated hatred, so taken more seriously as it is a physical act against a group or faith.

I understand the point you are making, just don't think there are grounds for arrest unless the flag waving was accompanied by shouting racial hatred, or preaching in favour of the groups actions.

Freedom of speech is an important right, and we should make sure it is protected for those we disagree with as much as those we do, unless, of course, they break specific laws on hate crimes.

That man should be as free to wave that flag here as I should be to wave a flag of my choice in an Isis / Isil / Daesh held territory.

Fair points Snazy - yet what of I were to walk around with a flag that had a swastika on it - im pretty sure that i would be nicked and rightly so, so should someone who walks around with an IS flag not be treated the same ?

You are right, I wouldn't be able to. That's exactly what makes us different from them. Isn't this one of the reasons we oppose these radicals? Because they curtail freedoms? Don't we want to protect democracy because we believe it protects those freedoms? By saying there is too much freedom here, you are saying you want us to be more like them.

I'm pretty sure you can dress as a Nazi or wave any form of their materials around, freely in the UK. Again, how you will be perceived by others is another matter, but it doesn't change your rights as a citizen of a democracy.

As rsh said, that is what makes us different, vulnerable or open to abuse some might say, but at the same time, the same freedom which allows it, allows you to express your own opinions about these factions.

Agreed it can't really be a racially motivated attack but it is an attempt to affront one groups beliefs.

Give Britain its due, it held a ceremony in Westminster Abbey to commemorate the victims - people WE failed despite the ''never again in Europe'' mantra.
