I am looking for activities to keep my 3 year old entertained during the afternoons over the summer holidays. I have found some drop in dance and theatre sessions that are running over the summer, but I would also like her to try something like a toddler ball play or football class. Does anyone know of anything offered reasonably locally?

Now she can see where I waste/spend so much of my time

The Ackroyd Centre in Honor Oak has a lot of summer activities for pre-schoolers planned including some sports sessions - none of them taking place at the Ackroyd itself I hasten to add, because it is closed this summer for refurbishment prior to becoming a Children's Centre. The activities will be taking place in parks, Horniman etc.

The programme is too detailed for me to list here, but you can phone Sue (Team leader for family support at the Ackroyd) and she will hopefully be able to get a copy to you. Her number is 07873 635861.

There are Teach Sport sessions in the Parks - Mountsfield Park, Hilly Fields and Manor House Park - from 11-4pm on the following dates: Tues 5 Aug, Wed 6 Aug, Thurs 7 Aug, Friday 8 Aug, Monday 11 Aug, Mon 18 Aug, Wed 20 Aug.

Also there is a Parachute games/Circus antics session on Thurs 14 Aug in Greenwich Park.

Anyway give Sue a call, she is very friendly, and she seemed really keen to promote the events and make sure they were a success.
