Hi everyone. I'm basically here to ask for some help/ideas any of you may have. Long story short is that I suffer from a medical condition that sometimes makes it difficult for me to get out and about. I have bipolar disorder which brings on bouts of depression and anxiety which can be a bit debilitating. It's during these periods that I really need to socialise and get some fresh air inside me but it's also the times where I really don't want to even leave the flat. Catch 22 right?

Well here's where you lovely people come in. My girlfriend and I had a discussion about things that could help me. One major thing is animals. Particularly dogs. I love dogs! So if anyone has a dog that they would be willing to let me spend some time with or take for a quick walk I'd love to hear from you.

In the couple of months leading up to Christmas I had a GP referral to the gym which I found very helpful. Since the referral ended however, I have found it more and more difficult to go on my own. If anyone fancies being a gym buddy to get me up and running again that too would be great.

Lastly I would just like to know if anyone has any advice to offer in general. I haven't been in the area too long and because of the way things are don't know too many people and socialising is so important but very difficult. Ideas for places go and things to see would be nice. You could do much worse than putting me in your pub quiz team.

Thanks very much for reading. Sorry if I waffled.

I know this is a bit of a different post and I'm not sure this is the right section to put it in so to cover myself I'll end by saying..........the bloody traffic on Dartmouth Road on a Saturday is awful!

I'd love you to help walk my chocolate Labrador, Monty. He is lovely, but a bit of a handful though, so perhaps you could come over and meet him first. Or we could meet at a park - your call. Let me know what you think.

Ellie

You should also talk to your GP about maybe getting a referral to the Sydenham Garden (off Mayow Road) http://www.sydenhamgarden.org.uk/ or if that's not appropriate for you then something similar as there is increasing research on the benefits to mental heath of outdoor activities, particularly gardening

Unfortunately I don't have a dog but I do know of a really interesting thing called Good Gym which exists around many parts of London and in Bristol too. My brother in law organises the one in Bristol and we've done a few of the runs. It's a great way to exercise with a group and makes a real difference to people too. In addition – all the people who do it are lovely and there are loads of different levels so you don't need to be a good runner to get involved.

Here's the link…

Thanks guys I really appreciate your suggestions and will follow up on them. Ellie, I used to own a choccy lab and had to give him up a few years back so I would love to give you a hand with Monty. I will send you a message if that's ok.
Once again many thanks.

Always happy to let people meet the Malamutes, but word of warning, they are VERY excitable to new people and sometimes come across as aggressive. But once they settle down, they love fuss and Aana especially likes giving cuddles.

Hope you can find the right outlet and help to get things a little settled for you.

Feel free to message me or email me at snazy123 at gmail.com
