On 3 April 1964 the band, that is Pete, Roger, John and Doug Sandom, played a gig at the Glenlyn Ballroom, Forest Hill, in south east London.

I think Forest Hill played an important role in the development of both the Who and mod. Anyone with Quadrophenia should look at the text from Pete Townsend on the inside cover of the album and to whom the album is dedicated.

An old friend Gary Shail that I lost contact with in the 90's (when I started to settle down to family life from party life) played Spider in the film Quadrophenia. He was a music producer then working from a basement studio on Adelaide Avenue in Brockley, so local connection there. Every time I popped in it was madness and mayhem but lots of fun, and a bit of a meeting place for Starlight Express Cast at the time.

Gosh that took me back there!

Woah that's awesome! I have some Who lyrics tattoed on my back. Not that you wanted to know that!

Also a huge Kate Bush fan, I believe she lived here too at some point.

Mick Karn lived on Ewelme Road and Japan used to rehearse there. The rest of the band lived nearby in Catford, Hither Green and Sydenham. Their manager was in East Dulwich at the time. Jak Airport /Jack Stafford (X Ray Specs / Classix Nouveaux) was a close friend of theirs and lived nearby.

Where did Kate Bush live?

Thorners as far as I know Kate Bush lived on Wickham Road in Brockley in the 70's and wrote Wuthering Heights while living there, this is just what I know from others so don't quote me on this.

Millie Small of My Boy Lolly Pop fame was apparently living in FH when she had her massive hit 1964.
