Do other train passengers ( sorry customers ) get agravated by having to endure other people inane conversations or even worse so called personal sterio's.
Nearly said something today someone well away from me had sterio on so loud, god knows what his hearing is like.
Long distance trains are blessed with quiet coaches why not 50% of our coaches.
People could actually relax , look out of the window , do crosswords etc.

Just tap them on the shoulder and ask them to turn it down.

Long distance trains tend to have one quiet coach - nowhere near 50% of the train. And it's rarely that much quieter unfortunately. Quiet coaches make sense if you're travelling for an hour or so where someone's refusal to turn music down etc could make a long journey unpleasant.

Quiet coaches on a 15 minute journey where the majority of people are fighting to get on the train let alone worry about where they stand so they can call the office to let them know they're stuck outside London Bridge probably aren't needed.

yeah - just tap them on the shoulder and ask them to turn it down and get punched in the face, knifed and shot.

Or, put up with it and tell us on the forum and we'll agree with you and you'll feel a little better about it.....

It's very rude isn't it but that's our society.

Is there any gadget that blocks signals on mobile phones? That would put a stop to a lot of noise pollution. My friend has a gadget that turns off TVs in pubs, though she never uses it if someone is watching it - she uses it when it is on in the background. People don't really seem to register that the sound has gone.

That would be great. Even better a device that switches of loud car strerio systems you can hear 5 mins before you see. Cannot understand why these are not illegal , but assume not as never seen anybody stopped.

My advice would be to move out to Tonbridge. BD once jumped on a train at Waterloo East, to change at LB for Forest Hill. Unfortunately first stop was Tonbridge (they have the occasional non stopping train during rush hour). Virtually the whole train fell asleep. True.

It is actually illegal, but one of those difficult to prove in courts one, so is only usually done in crackdowns etc.
Public nuicence and all that. Should not be audiable from outside the vehicle.

As for noise on trains, it does not usually bother me, I usually have my iPod turned up full Thumbsup
Just kiddin, but I usually have it on, with noise cancelling headphones so cant hear it all. Just wish you could could get something that cancelled smells too!! I dont use public transport that much, but eeeeww its not nice in the summer.
