The South Circular: the throbbing artery that keeps Forest hill on the map.

Get rid of the central island. Sync the traffic lights to allow a single crossing outside the launderette and WHSmiths, while a filter light allows traffic to turn right up Dartmouth Road. Simple.

I hate to think the number of times I've watched a train depart while being stuck in that island with huge lorries and coaches nearly taking us all out as they mis-judge that corner.

Yes return SE 23 to the people . s*d the motorists, they are mostly not local and mostly very lazy.

When I were lad, there was a traffic policeman on duty there and any 'orse that did not stop for a pedestrian would get a clip 'round the ear.

Quite agree. What's more, when the pedestrians finally do get a chance to cross, motorists think nothing of blocking the crossing.

A police car was just sat there the other day. I felt like tapping on the window and giving him a piece of my mind.

I hate this crossing. I am a cyclist and have to turn right outside the WH Smith into London Road and I always dread it. If I could avoid it I could but there is no better way. When I was in Berlin i noticed there are separate lights for cyclists and cars so the cyclist can turn in safety before the rest of the traffic follows.
