Speaking of the smell of Amsterdam and its coffee shops, when I was waiting for a train last weekend, I noticed the distinct smell of brewing. Is somebody brewing large amounts of beer in Forest Hill or somewhere down the line?

It reminded me of Edinburgh, where you can often enjoy the smell of hops.

I was a student in Edinburgh and the smell of hops was often overpowering. And unfortunately now associated in my mind with vicious hangovers. I can't smell it now without feeling a touch bilious.

Such a lovely town, if a wee bit nippy.

I think there is brewing going on in the little industrial estate off Clyde Vale next to the tracks. You can get a massive whiff of it when walking down that path. It's either that or pet food, hard to tell sometimes...

Benderish,
I think you might be right. Either that area or beside the post sorting office on the other side of the railway. But I think if there is brewing going on we ought to be able to purchase some at a local pub.

I was hoping somebody might know the exact location or brewery as I can't find any clues online.

This has been (inconclusively) discussed here before.

My comment on the brewery in Brockley didn't make the thread split.

Given the strength of the winds I suspect it's unlikely to have come from there but I can confirm they do a lovely pale ale and that they are open on a Saturday. Thumbsup

Apologies, the system won't allow me to divide one post into two threads so something has to give. Smile
