Twice this week we have had a person claiming to be homeless knocking on our door (thorpewood ave area). Once late at night and then early this morning- asking for money. A little bit concerning. Anyone else had the same?

Yes, we had someone buzz in the afternoon a couple of months back claiming to be a neighbour needing electricity money and then a few weeks ago someone buzzed at 4am but we didn't answer! You can report it to the safer communities police people by email.

He came back this evening. I have reported it on the voicemail of the Forest Hill community thingy. May be harmless but to be visited 3 times is concerning us....

There's been a thread about the same thing over at the East Dulwich forum, mostly people off Lordship Lane at the Grove Tavern/Underhill Road area so within a few minutes walk of FH.

We are a top floor flat, but the night it happened our communal hallway light was on so I guess they assumed someone was still up!

Last night in Derby Hill a man knocked on our door at 12.30am. I did not answer the door but watched through the window. He proceeded to knock on all doors where there was a light on in the house. He was wearing a green woolly hat, green jacket, light blue jeans. Quite stocky. Do not know what he wanted but seems suspicious at that time at night.

That is indeed rather concerning that someone would return so many times. Has he been given anything by anyone at some point? Is he seeing the house as a soft touch, or does it seem like he is checking if anyone is in?

Either way I hope the police can have a word with him soon, and at least get it on record who the guy is, and what his intentions are.

This man knocked on our door again lost night at 11pm. Did not answer door, but watched him knock further down the road, I saw that the door was answered and some conversation. Then he approached a young lady walking on the other side of the road who gave him some money I presumed, he then disappeared from sight. This time he was dressed in a red woolly hat ,black jacket.

I was at a yoga class at the end of last year - 2013 in the Friends Meeting House on the road next to Church Rise (can't remember the name). It was after 7.30 pm and a very agitated man was let in by the instructor, who with one of the other students was faffing around about giving him money.
This needs to be dis-couraged or they'll take more and more liberties - was probably a druggy.

Lewisham CRI has a clinic in Dartmouth Road so we do seem to be plagued with addicts.

Although it is not pleasent being approached door to door for cash, these situations arise because the UK is so c**p at dealing with drug addiction. But I wouldn't worry too much, what with Cameron's bedroom tax, the sanctioning of benefits and the general Tory war on the weak, poor and vunerable soon they will all be shipped out to Hastings in squalid B&Bs and then nobody need fear having their yoga class disturbed!

Here's what I know as the 3rd post in no particular order and may well be innocent.

I am not saying this bloke is a druggy, but something needs to be done to stop him doing this. By the way, no-one from the community people rang me back.

I'm a bit confused. My reply was about Tarquin, and the 3 posts that were posted by him/her. One on here and the other two on the ID Theft thread.

trevskirevski call non emergency police on 101 to make a report. Hope this helps.

We had a man knock on our door at 10.30 last night, claiming to be homeless and hungry. He was wearing scruffy jeans, green jacket a hat and was carrying a bag! My husband answered and sent him on his way. I have no idea if he knocked elsewhere.
