TfL's "bus disruption" detail has been updating as time goes on. Currently, it says:
Bus routes P4 and P12 are subject to diversion and dealys in the Honor Oak Park, SE23 area until 1600 Tuesday 04th February due to planned roadworks. Other buses in the area may also be subject to delays due to these works.

You can get that here and type in P4

And presumably the rail replacement buses (no trains / overground today) will also have to follow diverted route).

Well thankfully our trip to Kings ended up being early Saturday morning with hardly any traffic - good thing to as the baby came out within an hour of us reaching the hospital! Smile If this has been during our test run there could have been issues!

Let's hope it's done by the 4th in time for the tube strike next week...

Am glad you have enjoyed the peace, onthedge. For Devonshire Road residents this diversion has been highly disruptive. Constant horns blaring and arguments. No peace at all.

Road resurfacing is in progress again and it is projected to open again in time for this evening's rush hour. Thames Water willing!

Thames Water's contractors have finished, the people on site today are the council's contractors who are currently resurfacing the road. They tell me that as long as the white-lining workmen are on time that the road will properly reopen at 5pm this evening.

Best wishes all
Philip

You are absolutely correct Philip. To clarify, the Thames Water reference was to the cause of the road closure: ultimately decades of lack of maintenance on the water main. The resurfacing work triggered the fragile water main to rupture - with the stick and mend approach, it *will* happen again. Hopefully not today!

Just spotted another diversion and 3 Thames Water vans opposite the Co-Op by Waldram Park Road!

Virgin Media was there at the weekend. Now it's Thames Water's turn. Cause and effect? Did Virgin Media dig a bit too deep??? Confused

That exact spot was being dug up a couple of weeks back. Rather irritating that it blocks the bus lane when the traffic's already beggared.

Just driven home and what a pleasure to be able to turn into Devonshire / Boveney without the bunfight of the past few weeks!

Honor Oak Park open (as of 6pm anyway!)

Did the driver and/or bus forget the diversion wasn't in place anymore? Rofl

The fact that they dug it up a few weeks earlier can often be intentional.

In December, Thames Water dug up the road in Wood Vale and then closed it all up again the next day but left quite a bit of blue paint around. And then they've opened it all up again last week and, presumably, fixed it.

A neighbour spoke to the contractors and was told that they often do an initial dig to check the extent of the work required. If it looks like a simple fix, they'll do it then and there but if they think it's a bigger job but not an emergency, they'll fill back in and schedule it in for a proper fix.

Oh joy. Water emerging from the road surface at the junction of Honor Oak Park and Hengrave Road - just a few metres from the repair.

They are aware and it is on their leaks map.
