The Friends of Blythe Hill Fields put a bid in to the mayor for funding from the Playbuilder Scheme to improve the play area. This bid was successful and, together with some extra funding that Groundworks found, is paying for the re-landscaping and renewing of the playground. Work is due to be finished around early May, with an official opening fun day in early June. The plans look great. The emphasis is on natural materials. The boat will be kept, as will the infant swings and the zip wire.
The Blythe Hill Fields festival will be taking place again - this year on Saturday 3rd July - lots of bands and fun lined up. If you would like to volunteer - we need donkey handlers and lots of general help - or if you would like to have a stall or take part in some way - then contact me on mollhench@hotmail.com in the first instance. Should be a good day.
