The latest Local Development Framework newsletter mentions the Forest Hill conservation area.

Quote:
The Council has appointed the Conservation Studio to review the Forest Hill conservation area. The consultants will research the history of the area using old maps and describe the character of the conservation area that the Council has a duty to preserve or enhance.

If anyone has historical information they would like to contribute to this work, please contact, Justine Page on 020 8314 6071 or e-mail justine.page@lewisham.gov.uk

We will also look at reducing or extending the boundaries of the conservation areas and if any further management proposals are necessary to help look after the area. Public consultations on the reviews will be held in the autumn. All residents and businesses in the area will be notified.

Sounds like a good time to redraw the boundary so that it excludes the pool site, given the council's curious way of discharging its "duty to preserve or enhance" the area by knocking most of the old buildings down ("preserve"?) without too clear an idea of what is to replace them ("enhance"?)

I?ve heard that the consultant visited Forest Hill and said he was going to recommend the boundary be extended up Dartmouth Road as far as the Library, and east onto Perry Vale to include the parade of shops. I don't know the exact footprint but presumably it will include the land the pools and Louise House are currently occupying?

Unfortunately the consultant was due to change jobs shortly after his visit, so let?s hope his proposals still make it into the report.

It's already excluded. The conservation area only extends as far as the old Mayo Maker (Century Yard) on one side of Dartmouth Road and as far as Giovanni Hairdressers (Dartmouth Place) on the other
