After years of daily flare-ups between frustrated drivers, an accident that nearly led to a car crashing into our living room, and having to park half a mile away from where I live, a group of us living at the Honor Oak end of Devonshire Road have started a petition to change the flow of traffic.

Recent Thames Water work on the road led to a visible reduction in traffic, there were more parking spaces, and it was a quieter place for a change.

This petition relates to changing the flow of traffic North of Boveney Road. We want to cut the number of cars using it as a rat run, reduce congestion during the rush hours, and make it a pleasant place to live.

I'll admit that this action has been brought on by a hellish traffic situation at the Honor Oak end of the road, so we welcome views from people who live on the other side of Boveney, it will be nice to know how you feel about this.

We'd really appreciate your support on this, as it will lead to a reduction in traffic, and hopefully a quieter neighbourhood.

With your suggestion are you looking at sending the traffic round Boveney Road?
That already gets used as a rat run if there is a hold up on Honor Oak Park in either direction and quickly gets blocked up.

Like at the moment? Surely only traffic that is heading back onto Honor Oak Park anyway. Don't see how this would change that.

I live on Boveney Road and the increase in traffic during the Thames Water works on our road was awful. So I question your claim that there was no discernible impact on neighbouring roads on your petition.

Because it is seen to be a 'quieter' street cars were pelting around at high speeds and, as there are a lot of kids on Boveney Rd, including a nursery, it was pretty scary at times.

It seems to me you would like to have a 'quieter' street at the expense of other people having a busier one.

Hear, hear, Fjgb!

Like the suggestion of a CPZ, this proposal for the benefit of the few is to the detriment and inconvenience of many others.
