Planning application for external changes: http://planning.lewisham.gov.uk/online-a...CAPR_72300 (DC/13/85624) so it looks like things are progressing.

From the application:

With that style of font I'm surprised they didn't go the whole hog and have John Wayne striding out of the bar ready to mount his trusty steed and go yonder up One Tree Hill!

Think I prefer the current contemporary grey than this. Pretty ghastly frontage. But maybe the interior will be better.

Strip it back to it's original glory please!

Then I'll look forward to having a drink with AnotherJohn and John Wayne any day of the week!

Um... Really? I am so excited this pub is reopening and am loathe to be negative but this is a chance to get this pub right, for it to be successful and a worthy addition to the pubs in the area. Based on those drawings am a little concerned punch taverns haven't got the right idea.

Does anyone know the best way to try and get the right message through to Punch Taverns then? Medley you seem world weary in this respect. Any ideas anyone? I know alot of people posting here understand planning and other relevant considerations.

But it's only been called the honor for a few years, not since 1864?

If you have a planning reason for objecting you should send them to planning@lewisham.gov.uk

If you want to contact Punch directly then the contact details for Punch Taverns are on the application:
Mr Mark West
PUNCH TAVERNS
JUBILEE HOUSE
SECOND AVENUE
BURTON ON TRENT
STAFFORDSHIRE
DE14 2WF
And you could probably guess his email address which I don't know but ends in @punchtaverns.com

The signs are produced by 'county signs uk ltd' - mark@cosignuk.com

I have to say, I'm just pleased they seem to be heading in the right direction with this - which is more than can be said with the last refurb and the long, long shutdown.

I know it's not been called The Honor Oak since 1864 and it's slightly faked tradition but presumably it's been a pub since then. "Pub since 1864" sounds a bit blunt while "The Honor Oak (formerly the St Germains) since 1864" sounds clunky. "Buster, incorporating Whizzer and Chips", as a friend of mine used to say at random...

Asbestos removal vans parked on the frontage today. Getting rid of something nasty in the kitchen?

The Ivy House seems to be going great. I was very impressed with what they have achieved so far and it struck me as a model co-operative business.

There's a good review of The Ivy House in the Weekend section of today's Daily Telegraph. I can't find it online but I think it might be up on their site on Tuesday. ('Pint to Pint' reviews seem to get published on Tuesdays.)

Does anyone know what the latest is? Have they got planning permission? I'm getting impatient!

Yes planning permission was granted. You can see this from the link above.
It is meant to open in march and hopefully it will so that cheeky can buy me a pint! See http://www.se23.com/forum/showthread.php...4#pid60634
In fairness, if is isn't open in march I'll buy cheeky a pint when it does open.
