It being a calm, clear evening yesterday without an early moon I thought I would try and evaluate whether or not the new directional street lighting has improved the incidence of skyglow locally. After 15 minutes to allow for dark adjustment I had a good look at the sky in all directions and despite the obvious background glow concluded that there is a difference. Gone is the sickly yellow light which used to bathe my garden and as a consequence the sky seemed darker to me. I would be interested to hear from anyone else who has had an opportunity to assess the difference.
