16% more tickets being sold which is good... but potentially 84% of people with tickets being delayed... so the majority still suffer. I'm curious as to whether overall volume has gone up or down - is there evidence of people going to HoP to avoid paying?
I've got no objection to buying tickets although I hate when no-one bothers to check them since then others (in that 16% no doubt have got away with it) but one reason that I'm longing for Oyster PAYG to come in is to make it easier to buy a single zone extension for my annual zone 1-2 travelcard. Currently, it's more expensive than the equivalant Tube zone would be and you have to queue to buy the thing since the machines can't sell them presumably so it's not abused by people who don't really have a Travelcard.
Given that people who really want to break the rules and not pay are likely to find some way of doing so, inconveniencing the many is just so frustrating. However, it's the same with most rules so we should be used to it!
