I'm just North East of Blythe Hill Fields. Did anyone else feel like a helicopter was attempting to land in their back garden last night? Must have been around 12:30 this morning.

According to the Met helicopter Twiiter feed, they were helping police on the ground find a suspect, about 6 hours ago in SE4.

Yes, I certainly heard it - sounded very close indeed!

Thanks for the replies. I suppose the lost sleep is worth it if they caught some bad guys. The part I do not like considering are the bad guys hiding in my garden!

The police were making rounds again at around 10PM on both Monday and Tuesday nights - I wonder if they are possibly just carrying heat detectors to inspect the area?

From what I understand it is unlikely they would carry out such an operation at those times, unless it was a specific timed occurence of the offence. There is usually a better reason for it.
Just for the record, not all 'controllers' at Lippetts Hill have taken to using twitter for the MPSInTheSky account, so their activities wont always be made public, sometimes for in excess of 24 hours.
