Call Out for Educators, Creative Practitioners &
Learning Providers

Forest Hill School will be hosting a family learning event on Saturday 26th October 2013 (10am-4pm), aimed at engaging with the parents/carers (including extended family members) and children and young people living and/or attending primary or secondary schools in west Lewisham.

We would like to invite you to apply to take part in this event!

For no charge, you can promote your services directly to a family audience by delivering a workshop of your choice. This is a valuable opportunity for you to show off the exciting opportunities that you or your organisation can offer, and hopefully build relationships that will lead to future work.

The events title and theme is ‘Connected’, referencing the connections between learning, achievement and wellbeing; and families, generations and communities that the event aims to highlight and foster.

Workshops should address at least one event aim and at least one workshop criteria:

Event Aims:

• To provide opportunities for parent/carers, grandparent and children to participate in fun and educational learning activities, within a relaxed, friendly and informal atmosphere;

• To provide opportunities for parents/carers to learn how they can help support their children’s learning;

• To provide opportunities for parents/carers, professionals and other attendees to learn how the arts can support and enhance learning and wellbeing;

• To offer tasters and provide information about on-going learning opportunities available locally.

Workshop Criteria:

• Wider Impact:- able to demonstrate the benefits to learning, achievement and/or wellbeing.

• Parental Involvement:- able to demonstrate the value and importance of parent/carer involvement in their children’s learning;

• Information, Advice & Guidance:-
a) able to provide parents/carers with information, tools, tips and strategies they can utilise post event to support their child(ren)’’s learning;
b) able to provide parents/carers and participants with information on where/how they can access further learning opportunities related to the workshop activity (as appropriate).

We aim to select a broad range of workshops covering both art and non-art subject areas, representing provision available across the formal and informal learning sectors.

All are encouraged to apply.

To register your interest, please email for an expressions of interest form (closing date 5pm Friday 7th June 2013).
