As part of the One Tree Hill Festival each Sunday morning at St Augustine’s we will be looking a different responses to God. Taking themes from Victor Hugo’s novel Les Miserables we will be joined each week by West end performers who will be singing exerts from the musical. Each week they will be interviewed by Lisa Olsworth-Peter who played factory girl and Madam Thenardier in the West End production reflecting on the themes of the score. Through three of Hugo’s characters we will use their stories to explore their different responses to God found in the lyrics of their songs and ask how they inspire and challenge us in our own lives.

28th April, 10.30am ~Fantine: a dream
Caroline Rodgers –trained at Mountview and recently appeared in the acclaimed production of Spelling Bee, Little Women (The Lost Theatre) and has performed on CBeebies

5th May, 10.30am ~Valjean: a gift
Matt Gent – played Marius in Les Miserables (West End), he has also performed in Phantom (West End), Sweeney Todd (West End), Pirates of Penzance (Australian Tour)

12th May, 10.30am ~Javert: a requirement

Caroline will also be talking about the character of Fantine, who she was, her place in Victor Hugo's novel and what the song is about -how the theme of sacrifice is a big part of Fantine's story.
