We live on Taymount Rise, have done for two years, having moved from west London (hence 'nottinghillbilly') And its a really nice road.
peaceful, no through traffic, great views lovely neighbours and in a nutshell we've never regretted moving here. I dont know what you mean by 'Lodge' but its by our experience a really pleasant part of Forest Hill and near to all amenities.

I also live on Taymount Rise, and have done for the best part of 30 years.

Compared to the majority of London, crime rates are low.

See: http://maps.met.police.uk/
See: http://www.met.police.uk/crimefigures/

The council are usually pretty decent if something needs fixing, or a vehicle has been abandoned.

TV signals from Crystal Palace are good.

Internet speeds to the local exchange are decent. You will have a choice of a number of providers all offering up to 24mb. Virgin have enabled the street for up to 100mb, which is due to increase to 120mb sometime soon. Sadly, BT Infinity (Openreach) dragged its heels over Forest Hill, and only 75% of the town can get BT Infinity, Taymount Rise isn't one of them, but this may change in time.

Not really much else I can say. Schools within easy commuting distance, and London Bridge can be got to in around 15 mins by train, or Croydon also in the same time.

Parking can be a little frustrating at times if you don't have a dedicated bay or car park as many residents drive.

If I can think of anything else I'll post.

In case of any concern, that was the storm of 1987
