There has been a fair bit of structural work going on at Sainsbury's site but all from the back! Hopefully is still on track to open in next couple of months.

What is The Hill on Dartmouth Road going to be?

Just want to say that I visited The Montage on Saturday. Really cool interior, fab exhibition space upstairs and perhaps most importantly (to me anyway!), the cakes were absolutely delicious - highly recommend. It's on Dartmouth Road, near Boots.

I tried it at the weekend too and totally agree, they are also opening the garden soon and there's a great playroom which you can access from the garden as well. The cakes were amazing..Thumbsup

Another blog 'bigging-up' Forest Hill as part of one man's quest to visit every tube station in alphabetical order can be viewed at:

Excellent stuff, Michael. Thanks for posting. A few weeks ago I saw Ronnie O'Sullivan hopping out of his huge Merc SUV to nip into Parris cues. As he did so a white van rolled down its windows and I heard from within "Awwwwwwight Ronnie ? Oi ! Oi !".

I know there's already a thread on this somewhere...
But I just wanted to say again how great the bakery in Kirkdale is.
I popped in last night and they were incredibly warm and welcoming.
I even got away with a free cake and small baguette!

I haven't tried it, but I question the wisdom of naming a business selling gluten-based products 'IBS'! Any idea what this stands for in terms of the shop?

Michael I'm so glad you posted about Sandy's tubeforlols blog, I love reading it. He's such a lovely local, and his blog is so witty and informative, I highly recommend it to all.

Sibelius - there has been much discussion of IBS on the Sydenham Town forum, with just such concerns! Turns out they are the initials of the new owner.

Sorry my 'bakery' post has been plonked here.
I'd posted it somewhere else; it's just re-appeared out of the blue in the middle of this discussion.

Novel,
Same thing happened to me. I posted about that blog in the Location x3 thread, but I guess that because it mentioned shops it had to be relegated to this 'thread'. Not really a thread any more, more a massive tangle of short strings which are impossible to follow or respond to. Reminds me of everything I hate about Twitter.

Hi all,
I am moving to the area (HOP) in August and very excited!Rofl

I was wondering, are there any good gyms in the area and how much do they cost per month?

Or are there any zumba, yoga, or other dance classes over the weekend?

In terms of grocery shopping, is Sainsbury in Forest Hill the only big supermarket? my house will be near Fairlawn school, are there any smaller local shops around that area?

Thanks so much!

For anyone who's interested I noticed that the recent House of Love album (he paints red) was recorded in SE23, at Perry Vale studios.

So it's not just A-ha who recorded in Forest Hill (at rendezvous studios)

I think Hospital Records (a big drum & base label) are based on Dartmouth Road. I'm pretty sure their podcasts are recorded in FH.

There is a well equipped gym at Forest Hill Pools, and another on London Road near sainsburys. If you have a car the National Sports Centre at Crystal Palace is good and affordable. All of these options have weekend classes.

In terms of supermarkets near HOP, the closest are the co op on Forest Hill Road (technically east dulwich), jays budgens in crofton park and the host of local stores on Brockley Rise. A sainsburys local will be opening on Honor Oak Park this summer so that will greatly improve the convenience of buying fresh produce for those without cars! Welcome to the area!

Hi and welcome Love London. We also have The Butchery which is opposite Sainsbury's. Aga's Little Deli on Dartmouth Rd and Hills and Parkes Deli on Honor Oak Park both sell fresh fruit and veg, cheeses, bread, cooked meats etc etc etc.
