Have seen a house we like but the deal breaker is that the garden (approx 50') is north facing. Just wondering if anyone lives along the roads near the pool (Thorpewood, Derby Hill Crescent) and can let me know how much sun the gardens get in the summer. Admittedly it may be a moot point given the summers we've had lateley but I live in hope...

If it is 50 feet then the main section of the garden will always have sun behind a 1930s semi. I've spent many happy times (30 years ago) playing at a friend's house on Thorpewood Avenue with a north facing garden.

Thorpewood Ave is a great place to live. Street parties, street snowball fights, book club etc. North-facing gardens not a problem. They back onto other gardens anyway so their south facing garden is your north facing garden depending on how you look at it.....
