Not quite so freakish as it might sound, but a little bizarre. MacDonalds are filming an advert in Canonbie Rd today and have filled a section of the street with artificial snow. Quite fun, but I do wonder whether they might possibly have been misleading the Council a little. Their letter beforehand suggested that parking had been suspended, but unless I read it wrongly did not say that the road would be closed? However, in practice it does seem to be - there are several people strongly discouraging people from driving that way as the snow will need to be replaced if they do.

Ah no, I think you beat me to it, but I was slow to write my post so yours wasn't there when I started. Never mind!
