We had the police doing the rounds last night trying to raise awareness.

It's that time of year when the thieving little "squirrels" like to take advantage so they can "feather their nest" for winter, as it were.

We had someone try to get in to our sons bedroom last nite at twelve thirty ! On the forth floor via our scaffold ,the same thing happened two weeks ago ,when someone did get in and stole my sons £70 ! The police were amazing they waited on honor oak ,waldenshaw and on our road ! The good news is they caught him ,they took my son (he's only 14) to see if he recognised him and lucky he did ,so one less scumbag on our streets ,let's hope he's dealt with firmly like maybe chop both his hands off !

Sorry to hear that Sharon, sounds scary as hell.
Glad they have caught the person though, even though the penalty will not fit the crime, at least they will have a record of them.

That very good news! I take it you are on Waldenshaw Rd.

Something pertinent to be aware of, from the 'Brockley Central' forum.

I fell for this same thing a few years ago. Only had a few coins in the house though, so was only parted with £3.

To clarify; my intention was to draw readers to the concluding section of that article, which I saw as pertinent to the topic of this thread.

Thanks TFM33 for pointing out the tip at the end for anyone experiencing such an attempt at a scam.

But this is where it gets really weird... my friend called the police and they told him to check the outside of their house, and that there might be a symbol chalked on the wall. Sure enough there was a discrete rectangle daubed by the front door. Apparently it's one of a set of signs made for others in the gang, though the police don't know what each one means – anything from 'don't target this house again' to ' there's a nice big telly in here to come back later for'.
