Why shouldn't ladies have tattoos?!

I have a tattoo. And I'm definitely* a "lady".

What happened to live and let live? The process of having a tattoo won't make someone more likely to be aggressive, have criminal tendencies or be a degenerate. In this more enlightened age, tattoos have become more respectable and over time, the demographics will change to reflect this.

I know several fine upstanding women (tax lawyers, accountants, nurses) who all have tattoos that mean something to them but in fairly discreet places. I'd class all of them as ladies. I do know another woman with a tattoo who isn't a lady but then again, she wasn't one before having it either.

Yes it is great.
I know my views are not always the same as others , though on this subject a number have had stronger objections than me.
I appreciate that it is irrational to not wish to served by someone with a visible tatoo , but I speak to many who agree with me .
I accept it is OK for Naval and Merchant sea people .
I know for a fact my old employer turned down two applicants because of visible tatoo's .
Mixing with another current controversial subject there seem to be a number adjacent to The Bird in Hand.
Let face it if we all agreed the this site would be a waste of time and many times I do take extreme views to be devils advocate.
Many subjects I defend people like Scotchbrocks yesterday. Credit when credit is due.

My friend's son went off the rails and at only 16 had a piercing, but modesty prevents me from saying where. I am far to embarassed to ask him about it.

Just to clarify something Brian...
If a tattoo is NOT visible, the person is ok, of it IS, then you would rather not interact with them. Or just the lack of knowledge of it being there would make it bareable.

How about being served by someone you KNOW has a non visible tattoo?

Just to put a point to anyone who says "think what you will look like when you are 70"
By 70 I expect to be quite wrinkly and not particularly pleasing to the eye. With veins popping out and any other skin conditions, what difference will a wrinkled tattoo make

At the end of the day, we are all entitled to our opinions. And I respect each persons feeling on the matter. But catagorising people for making a choice is a little lame.
What next, facial hair, clothing choices, crooked teeth?

What gets me is buxom ladies who have a tattoo on their cleavage. No matter how hard you try you have to have a quick look. Then it looks like you are a dirty old (in my case) man. Nothing wrong with it of course (the tattoo, not the peeping Tom), but it does seem to invite people to have a look.
